Dubai’s foodies are spoilt with a huge range of cuisine here in the city, and now a new licensed venue serving up Uzbek classics is in town.
OSH is a central Asian-inspired restaurant from London and it’s set to open in La Mer imminently. Set in the trendy Beauchamp Place – which is also home to the famous Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro, Chisou and Maroush – OSH London opened in March this year.
The Dubai location is set over two floors, with both indoor and outdoor seating. According to the team behind it, OSH boasts “pristine fusion interiors that open the road into a contemporary oriental realm”.
There’s no hints on the menu yet, except that “it draws inspiration from East to West, showcasing the intercultural culinary art from the legendary bazaar cities along the famous silk route”.
If it’s anything like the London menu we’re in for a treat. Dishes on the Knightsbridge list include pickled Asian cherry tomatoes, tiger prawns, soft shell crab, aubergine tartare, marinated peppers and Uzbek tomato carpaccio. Larger dishes include butternut squash manti or lamb manti (essentially dumplings) as well as Uzbek Osh – slow-cooked lam with chickpeas, veg and Uzbek spices, as well as a variety of shashlik, miso-glazed Chilean sea bass, black cod and rabbit with truffles.
Although the Dubai version is set on a beach rather than in a townhouse, we’re hoping for a similar style of dining.
La Mer is fast becoming a go-to spot for dining and entertainment, with a host of new restaurants frequently popping up, as well as the brand-new Laguna Waterpark. Coming soon. La Mer, Jumeirah 1. www.oshrestaurant.com.
