Delhi Darbar

Cheap and cheerful canteen style in Deira Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

A typically cheap ’n’ cheerful canteen-type eaterie, Delhi Darbar is perpetually packed, full of movement and noise and a heady blend of tempting aromas. Delicious vegetable dishes such as palak paneer and malai kofta come in at a cheap as chips Dhs11 each, while the mutton kadai is Dhs10.

The mutton dishes are a little over-oily, but the old favourite, chicken tikka masala, is spot-on. The dahl, meanwhile, is delicious, chock-full of beans and lentils.

I remember when i used to work in Dubai i had gone to this restaurant. I have never in my life eaten in a restaurant where the food is so oily. and tasteless. I remember eating at Delhi Darbar in Mumbai which is a thousand times better.

Dear Sir,

Me and my wife visited yesterday at 09.30 at Delhi Darbar Restaurant in Deira, Dubai and just wanted to give you some feedback about our dinner. We had ordered first a chicken corn soup for us in which the quantity of chicken was very less I think almost equal to 10% and we have to search for the chicken in the soup. Letter we ordered for a chicken tikka masala and mutton bihari kabab. There were only 3 pieces of chicken in chicken tikka masala in the handi. We also ordered for a mutton biryani and we received it within 2 minutes which was not hot at all. Even when I asked the person also and he replied that it was just made. This is really surprising!!!!

The quantity and quality of food at Delhi Darbar was not upto the standard what we had in Colaba, Mumbai and Satwa, Dubai during last year. Even the grooming standards needs to be maintained properly by the staff and to stop speaking in loud noise in front of the guests.

When I spoken to the senior waiter about the quantity and quality, he informed that there are only 3/4 pieces in chicken tikka masala whereas the chicken is less in chicken corn soup because the quantity of corn is more than chicken.

Delhi Darbar needs to be improved more and more training needs to be given to the staff.

With best regards,

Ordered delivery from within Diera and took over an hour on a Tuesday evening. When the food arrived it was swimming under 1-2 centimeters of oil, tried to pour it off. Soup was putrid grey. Most definitely would not recommend. 70 dirhams in the trash, literally.
