Pizzeria Uno Chicago Grill
American diner with Italian flavour 1 Reviews
This hybrid restaurant may look and feel like an all-American diner (complete with Grease-style booths and the usual paraphernalia on the walls), but it is the Italian flavour that wins the day. Of the starters, the Chicago sampler (heaps of excellent buffalo wings, cheese sticks, chicken strips, fries and onion rings) was usurped by an unusual but very tasty Tuscany garlic bread, topped with pesto, spinach, tomato and melted cheese. From a groaning main menu, the house special proved a disappointment. A full 16oz of dry New York strip took a lot of chewing, and having to choose between fries or vegetables seemed a little stingy. For a third of the price, the vegetarian version of the ‘world famous’ deep pan pizza came well loaded and in a surprisingly sensible size. The thin crust surf & turf was even better, with juicy prawns, generous chunks of chicken and a good mix of cheese, although the warm avocado sauce was rather bizarre.
