IKEA
Simple, functional and budget food and furniture 1 Reviews
Rather like their furniture and home accessories, Ikea’s restaurant serves dishes that are simple, functional and incredibly good value for money. Stagger into the canteen-style restaurant, following a couple of exhausting hours schlepping round the gargantuan store and you’re faced with typically Swedish choices of meatballs in gravy or salmon, and, occasionally, lasagne.
The meatballs are always good – firm and peppery, while the salmon is pleasingly flaky and perfectly fresh and tasteful. The vegetables on the side are less successful, overcooked and reflecting the institutional canteen atmosphere.
Skip the tepid fruit salad dessert and try out the almond cake – a sweet and nutty treat. Don’t miss their astonishingly good value breakfast available from 10-11.30am which includes eggs, beef bacon, hash browns and baked beans for the rock bottom price of Dhs5.
