This quirky restaurant almost defines the term ‘cheap and cheerful’. The menu descriptions alone are worth the trip. ‘Gravies more juicy like’, anyone? And the food is also top notch.
A starter of koong hom pha spring rolls stands out for its gorgeous crunch and oiliness, and is accompanied by a dip of chillies, garlic and rice vinegar that tastes hot, tart and sweet all at the same time.
Koong todd karma features succulent butterflied shrimp in an unusual garlic and pepper sauce, while a main dish of kai pad bai kra pao – chicken with holy basil – will leave you reaching for the tissues to douse the flames. The good food, low prices and swift and cheery service will leave you feeling like you have uncovered a hidden gem.
