While it’s famed for its teppanyaki and its talented show chefs, this global chain is more than just a fun place to settle your Japanese cuisine craving. Look beyond the silly photos of Rocky Aoki, founder and owner of Benihana, and all the fun times he’s had with Tom Hanks and Diana Ross, and keep your eyes on the menu, because that’s where you’ll find Benihana’s secret for success.

Aside from the tasty teppanyaki, there’s a large selection of sushi favourites; so large in fact, we suggest you make the chef do all the picking and opt for the sushi and sashimi imperial selection. With popular pickings like the tuna maki and squid sushi on the list, the selection is imperial indeed. For an extra crunch, order the prawn tempura, which isn’t fried to oblivion and still tastes like seafood.

Sadly, the desserts aren’t as impressive: the wasabi ice cream promises to baffle your taste buds, but it only succeeds to cause a minor confusion. It’s a far less adventurous option than you’d like it to be.

best of all Japanese restaurants,
top of my list, i go there every Tuesday for sushi night...

Delicious food, unique taste, high quality meat.

Had very slow drink service and the meat, especially the chicken was poor quality (thigh, not breast meat). The sushi was just ok but ordered the chicken, steak, and lobster and all were tough. The chef was not very experienced and missed on the tricks. Got a shrimp tail in my drink.
