From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010

Assuming the guise of a ’50s diner, Johnny Rockets aims to transport diners back to the era of bobby socks and rock ‘n’ roll. Whether the decor succeeds in doing this is debatable, but it doesn’t really matter –the food is comforting diner fodder. Burgers are massive, juicy and wholly satisfying. The enormous milkshakes, which are thick with fresh ice cream, also hit the spot nicely. It’s also a great spot for kids, who love the fun paraphernalia, friendly staff and naughty burgers.

I ate lunch at the Johnny Rockets in the Dubai Mall several times last week. The hamburgers are head and shoulders above any chain like McDonalds or Burger King and the shakes are excellent.

The beef in the burger tastes like real meat, not cardboard.

I am very suspect of some of these negative "reviews" that flame restaurants like Johnny Rockets. I think it reveals more about the person than the restaurant.

The Best part of JR is da view of Burj Khalifa....Its make U feel like a date wdt da Tower....The Burger is Best I ever had in UAE...
The minute I walked IN I immediately noticed the unique theme and ambience of a 50's with sweet ads and posters on the walls from the second world war in association to women and cola ....Its gives U a real Americana Feel in JR...

fool me twice, shame on me.NEVER again.this place sucks. i ordered an egg salad,i had a bland,tasteless cubed boiled eggs sitting on a couple of lettuce leaveswith 2 pitiful looking limp slices of bread, the kind you buy at the corner supermarket, my chili con carne was cold,sour and tasted like from a can,with the same limp bread.my husband's hamburger didnt come with anything, not even fries..what a rip off..and was billed for a shake i didnt have, good thing i checked the receipt. que horror!!

I never liked the 50's - and fast food is also not my favorite food.
The service is friendly - but not more particularly friendly...

The food however is a different thing. Everyone who is comparing with McDonalds or Burger King, don't have any idea of food.

These are real burgers they are selling - not cardboard with flavors...
It is messy, juicy good!

I don't say, that I never ate a better burger... but they are [in the borders of a fast food restaurant] very good.

As good the burgers as high are the prices. Is it worth? Everyone has to answer for himself - but it is definitely few times a month worth for me...

NOT GOOD QUALITY !!! Very expensive for low quality burger, Burger King will do better ! Will never go back and will tell my friends about my experience. Delivery charge of 10 DHS, after I order 98 DHS ????? Give me a break !!!

I wend to this restaurant because of the reviews i see here from all the guys! i was shocked, un clean tables, dirty glasses, no tissues on the table, no ashtray, i ordered american classic burger with FF, it came after 20min , and they should call it MASTARD Burger because this is all what i tasted,even there was no body there, the waiter was busy on the mobile, i changed the plate and ordered some side dishes, please do not try the OILY Rings!!!, and the price 130AED, OMG i wished i gave the to cherity and skipped my lunch, it would be good for my health

I have eaten a lot of burgers, but the burgers at Johnny Rockets were the best ones I ever tasted during my 40 years. A total surprise for me. And a happy and tasteful one. I will definitely go back when I visit Dubai!

From my experience, Johnny Rockets is a great diner chain. The minute I walked in the first time I immediately noticed the unique theme and ambience of a 50's diner with sweet ads and posters on the walls from the second world war in association to women and cola (most being a propaganda!) but nevertheless delivers something different to the audience.

The service is excellent, sometimes even too attentive it would make you laugh by their eagerness to serve! The food is not the best out there, but still very tasty, The Double Rocker never fails to make me drool. Although a little bit overpriced, it is still within the acceptable range for my age group of university students.

Besides all that, the one and only craving I get from Johnny Rockets (and on a frequent basis) is their amazing strawberry milk shake! Its just too damn good... Ok I want one now.

Even if you’re not the kind of person to fall head over heels for textbook Americana diners Johnny Rockets is still worth a go. Walking in to the restaurant seems easy enough, anyone whom might be as described as old by youngster these days may remember great diner chains such as Big Boy from your childhood, such memories are bound to pop-up, but possibly not. Unfortunately a lot of the display is just for show, Jukeboxes don’t work and those 1950s red leather chairs don’t swing the full 360° like you remember. Service is jolly and fast, just don’t expect you meal to arrive 60 seconds after ordering. The menu is surprisingly varied for a standard American restaurant dealing with sandwiches and malts. But you won’t want to go there for that. You come for the burgers and what delicious ones they are at that.

Classical melt in your mouth, don’t fall apart in you hand sorts are the kind you find here. I myself find them much preferable to the pre-fabricated cardboard burgers you commonly find in fast food restaurants that have been popping up all over the world like an infectious disease. Every bun is filled with quality meat and vegetables, and while it certainly isn’t 5 stars, it has its own appeal that isn’t to be look down upon. The milkshakes are brilliant too, though they are about as thick as your arteries will get if you visit
Submit place on a daily basis. Johnny Rockets isn’t the kind of place you’d come every day, but it deserves a visit at least once, plus the kids will love it.
