From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010

There aren’t many restaurants in Dubai where you’re guaranteed authentic Greek fare, which is precisely why Elia is so unique. The menu proffers a seemingly unending array of mezze (note: Greek mezze resemble the Lebanese variety only in name), and it’s easy to get dangerously full at Elia, so it’s advised to bring a group to share. While this is one of the few spots in town to sample cabbage dolma or moussaka, some of the dishes still fail to dazzle. A bit more seasoning would do wonders for the overall effect of the meal. Regardless, Elia still makes for a stunning setting, with charming ivy-strewn tables overlooking the bustling streets of Bur Dubai.

A quaint, cozy little find tucked away in Bur Dubai...the restaurant was deserted on the weekend night that I was there...felt great to have the place to ourselves but Elia should do a lot more to get the word out about the yumminess they serve!

The food is fresh, light and flavorful and well-sized portions. While the menu is a little daunting (hint: please include an English description of each dish alongside the Greek name), my prior exposure-albeit limited-served me well. The waitstaff did try their best but were hampered by heavily accented English. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on their menu.

Will definitely go there again!

It was a lovely Dinner I had with my friends in Elia restaurant at Majestic Hotel. The terrace was really amazing for us, the trees and the lights. The foods are fantastic, fresh, healthy, affordable and perfect timing. We ordered a lot of starter to share the halloumi cheese, grilled stuff calamari, greek salad, tomato kefta, tzajikki and for main meal the fantastic mousaka, seabass and souvlakki compliment to the greek chef was really lovely dinner. The excellent service Eden, I like the way she presented the wine Oyster Bay and recommended. She’s friendly and helpful to her colleagues, she knows very well of her job. The second time around we didn’t see the greek manager, I appreciate if she will be there the next time around.

This restaurant is one of my favourites. It is casual but you feel pampered, the food is repeatedly EXCELLENT, it may take a few minutes more, but that is the trade off for fresh, made from scratch authentic Greek food. Nothing tastes pre-cooked or pre-prepared and that is what makes it so good. This is increasingly rare to find for Dubai.
I thought the Time Out editor's description of the decor completely incorrect. Perhaps he/she expected columns and Aphrodite statues. Obviously he/she has never been to Greece where white-washed taverns like Elia abound. Elia is quintessential Greek, nothing to do with IKEA, nothing to do with Sweden... and the outdoor area, bathed in candlelight is like a delightful secret garden.
You have to at least try it once... otherwise you're missing out.

Being Greek I. decided to take some friends so they can taste Greek Cuisine in Dubai. They were all happy and the food was great! Service was quick and we will certainly visit again.

I am Greek and have had the pleasure of dining at Greek restaurants all over the world. I can tell you that this place is one of the best. The food is consistently excellent. The chef takes a creative take on traditional Greek dishes, without overdoing it. Everything I've ordered - which is almost the whole menu after approximately eight visits - never fails to disappoint. The atmosphere is great, although I'd love to see a better wine list featuring Greek wines and also Greek beers. Only downside is that some of the staff could use further training. I love coming here - it is 100% Greek approved!

Elia is a hidden gem in Dubai. The food is sensational featuring both classic Greek favorites and contemporary dishes by the hand of a very famous Greek Chef, but the ambience is unique. The soft candles, Greek0style setting and warm, friendly service make it one of my fhot spots. Prices are great too.

Great decor, ambience and staff.

The food was not Greek, the portions small and limited menu.

I think they need to employ a real Greek Chef.

I went there with my mum and it was a very enjoyable meal. The food was extremely tasty, if a little on the small side. But that made up for the intense flavour of each dish. We also had a very good french wine. The low lighting, candles, lit-up plants provide a very serene environment. I definitely recommend!!

Upon ordering, a complimentary dish of fried calamari with aubergine was brought which was small and nice. Also, 3 different types bread slices and olives were delivered to the table. The moussaka was very enjoyable. That with a bottle of Tiger came to Dhs. 83.
Waitresses were helpful and knowledgeable. Would like to come again

It is one of the worst Greek restaurant that I have ever visited in my life. The food is of very low quality, the wine list minimal and with low quality Greek wines and the staff inexperienced. Being Greek, I felt very uncomfortable.

We went to Elia with a group of people and just loved it. The decor and ambience is Mediterranean yet not too dominantly Greek. It feels warm and stylish at the same time. They do have an airconditioned terrasse - for the smokers.
The food selection is very good with something for every taste, and they have a nice wine selection as well (even though not too much from the Mediterranean unfortunately). The home made bread they serve is extremely yummi. The service was excellent, attentive yet not too dominant, and time was just flying as we enjoyed the evening so much. The price/value ratio is excellent despite the fact that the restaurant is in a beautiful and high class business hotel.
This is a place that can easily become one of my favourites, and I will go back again and again and will bring friends - no question about it.

This restaurant is perfect for romantic diners as well as for friends / family diners.
The food is at the same time traditional and modern, sophisticated and simple.
I'm half french - half greek leaving in the UAE; this place is like a piece of my homes as the chefs (greeks) have connections with french cuisine as well.

The only thing missing has been the Acropolis in the background.

Simply yummy food in an excellent relaxed environment. Nice surrounding and good people taking care of your every need. Minimalistic decor, yet accentuated enough with warm colours that gives you that cosy feeling when dinning with friends, a date or family. The outside patio is a nice attraction, still reminding you that you're in Bur Dubai, but adds that little balance of the real city life which we miss in Dubai.
