From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010
If you’ve ever visited one of Tony Roma’s worldwide franchises (or any mid-priced steak diner, for that matter), you’ll know pretty much what to expect from the Dubai incarnations. Offering typical chain-restaurant food, the catch-all menu encompasses grills, chicken, steak, seafood and burgers, guaranteeing a filling, if rather predictable meal. The upsides here are friendly service (with the manager chatting amiably to patrons as he seeks ‘honest feedback’ about the meal), and the sizeable steaks which, for the price, are good quality, nicely cooked and surprisingly tasty. And the downsides? On our last visit the restaurant was all out of fries – a pretty major booboo at a steak-and-chips diner. Still, there’s no shortage of alternatives: the sour cream-topped baked potatoes make a satisfying substitute. And if the run-of-the-mill main meal options leave you feeling uninspired, you can always pep up your spirits (and your calorie count) with one of the gut-bustingly decadent desserts on offer.
