The array of mezze up for offer at the Holiday Inn’s Arabic restaurant could tempt even the most hardened of dieters. However, these are mostly hit-and-miss. The tabouleh, though fairly traditional, is given a kick with the help of some extra lemon juice. Meanwhile makanek – lamb sausages marinated in pomegranate – is rather dry. Also, the decor seems a bit unfinished. The space is too cramped to fit the 10 tables it has, yet the management still manages to squeeze in a water fountain. Mains are as mixed as mezze. Lamb kebabs are juicy and tender, though some of the items on the seafood platter veer towards the bland. Basically, Al Sarab isn’t likely to become a Dubai institution, but it’s not a bad spot to stop into if you happen to be in the area.
