Al Kabab Al Afghani
Afghani delights in the Naif district 4 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010
Give yourself a couple of hours to find Afghan Kebab House, as it’s hidden in the very darkest deepest part of Deira, in the back streets around Naif Souk. This two-storey monument to grilled meat serves up big chunky slabs of lamb, authentic Afghan kebabs and other, semi-Indian and Arabic influenced delicacies, such as chicken tikka. The presentation is simple – start with a fragrant, dill-infused, Afghani soup, then put together a plate of grilled meat. To round things off, throw in some creamy houmous and a giant, pillowy slab of bread. More or less a cafeteria, the place is filled with Afghanis, Pakistanis and whoever else is in need of a filling, post-work meal in Deira. The ingredients are fresh and the atmosphere bustling – it’s the perfect place to go for a break after a hard day in the souks.
