The Spice Club

Popular Indian lunch spot Garhoud Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

Despite being tucked away in Garhoud, The Spice Club is a destination restaurant for the Indian community, especially on weekend evenings. Start your evening in the small but comfortable Spice Club bar, where service is friendly and efficient, before moving on to dinner next door.

The decor is modern colonial. If you are hungry enough, dig into some aloo khaas tikki (thick potato patties with peas and ginger), which are highly addictive. Mains are not as inspiring – the tadka dahl is far from the best in the city, being hot, but not flavoursome, and it should be an easy dish to get right.

You’re better off ordering the butter chicken cooked with onions, ginger, garlic and pepper – just ask for it on the milder side. Mop it up with roti and wash it down with a glass of house wine, and you’ll likely feel pretty satisfied to have become an honorary member of The Spice Club.

I love Spice Club. It's a lovely restaurant with beautiful decor, great staff and wonderful food.I am 12 years old and my family and I love going there. It's our favourite Indian restaurant. It's my birthday today(26/2/2010)and that's where we're headed for dinner. For starters, you should definately try the 'Malai Broccoli'.It's absolutely amazing. It's aa great stop for a light bite or even a heavy dinner.

Ambience was good enough but the food lacked the taste of India. I did not find the value for money for that food. The Iftar buffet was not having adequate iftar food as the menu lacked hummous, salads and desserts. The main course was not at all up to the mark of a 4 star hotel. I felt the vegetable biryani (chole biryani) served were not fresh and gave an uneasy feeling the day after I had buffet. I felt all my expectations were ruined as i went there with lot of hopes and with just two desserts in their menu was not so 4 star standard.
