Govinda’s

Get hooked on Indian food in Karama Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

Since Govinda’s is such a firm favourite among the Indian community, you might find yourself waiting for a table here, but it’s well worth the effort. It’s a cosy joint with soft lighting, religious paintings and a not particularly appealing fake tree.

The yellow dahl with spinach is satisfyingly wholesome, and the vegetable haridwar is a creamily satisfying dish. Wash this excellent food down with fresh juices. If you like Indian food, one visit here and you’ll be hooked.

I am a very foodie person and always hunting some nice restaurants and what i realized is, eversince my family joined me here in dubai (4 years before) we have never been anyother place than Govindas, pure vegiterian, very good variety, specially the melton mouth biriyani and paneer kadai. and so many other dishes. service is very good. its not even expensive. food is evry tasty. we go there regularly atlest once in a month. very good varielties in icecreams. even in occations, celebrations we order food from govindas only... go for it guys... believe me, u must try pinacolada, aalo methi tikki (starter) meltin mouth biriyani, paneer kadai (ask them to make it more spiciey) butter nan, Gobi Kastoori and in the end.... Gulkand Ice cream.

I came here expecting authentic, expertly-cooked Indian (especially Punjabi) cuisine at low costs and was not disappointed.

The Lahore Aloo was rich and incredibly flavoursome and the plain basmati rice was cooked to perfection and was subtly fragranced.

Service was quick and efficient and not too over-bearing.

I heartily recommend this restaurant.
