Although there are more sophisticated locations in Dubai, the bird’s eye view from this sprawling restaurant situated on the 9th floor of Rydges Plaza, is one of the best in the city. Here you can truly take in Dubai’s contrasts – from the gritty stretch of Satwa’s clustered living quarters to the ridiculously expensive, over-the-top tower blocks of the Sheikh Zayed Road, and from Deira to the Burj Al Arab in the other.
The service is impressive and the food is good. Beijing-style pork pancakes come highly recommended; succulent and smothered with a tangy viscous sauce, they are served with soft, homemade pancakes. These should be accompanied by lightly-braised aubergine in a hefty garlic sauce. Steer clear of the dim sum though – they are not a speciality here and this is evident in their quality.
Unfortunately Four Seasons is no longer open for lunch, sad really, since this means their vista is now reserved for night time viewings only.
