From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008
Despite the promising setting, the food doesn’t entirely live up to expectations. While the menu serves up a mix of Thai, Chinese, Indonesian and Vietnamese dishes, nothing seems to really hit the spot. The chicken satay skewers are succulent and juicy, but the dipping sauce is bland and thin, and lacking in any satisfying peanuty crunch.
Among the main courses, the traditional pad thai is uninspiring – with none of the trademark crushed peanuts and the background chilli warmth that you’d hope for from this classic dish. The beef penang curry is rich and thick, but despite being marked with two chillies on the menu it’s not a patch on the powerful, sinus-clearing curries you’d expect from an authentic Thai restaurant, with barely a hint of a kick whatsoever.
The pad paak king mun chi is served with a flourish, with tender strips of Peking duck presented beautifully alongside slivers of cucumber and a rich plum sauce. But at the hefty whack of Dhs125 it’s a lot to pay just for duck pancakes. Unfortunately the food is nothing more than adequate and isn’t good value.
