Black Canyon

Thai food in the Festival City Mall Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

If you can stand the wailing children that are probably in the mall restaurant, there are a couple of dishes of note. The golden purse appetiser is probably the best place to start. The crisp filo pastry swag bags of minced chicken, onion and herbs are quite a steal when dipped into sweet chilli sauce.

Then move onto the king prawn fried rice, which is teeming with fleshy pink seafood and made more interesting with the addition of some light soy sauce with chilli, but the beef in black pepper with rice noodles is rather dry and the meat far from tender.

Where Black Canyon really hits the spot – as you might expect from a coffee house – is with its coffee. Instead of the traditional Thai desserts, opt for the black crunch coffee, which provides your daily caffeine kick alongside a scoop of ice-cream, a crown of whipped cream and fragments of cookie dough. It’s a cool, sweet end to your meal that might just take your mind off the screaming kids for a moment.
