Although it has quite a fan base these days, (which also makes it very noisy at times), Bar Zar is more of a watering hole than an eatery and the menu and service reflect this. You can munch on straight forward, perfectly acceptable bar food such as the roast rib eye and spicy chicken curry -– both tasty enough mains -– but you may not remember what you ate the next morning. Bar Zar doesn’t do memorable. For desserts you will find bread and butter pudding and a dollop of inexpensive ice cream and similar. If a quiet night is what you fancy, avoid the pre-club crowd and go week nights.
