Smart and elegant, and also fully licensed, this restaurant offers a wide selection of interesting veg and non-veg dishes at reasonable, if not rock-bottom, prices. The menu is far from homogenous and there are some real stand-outs to be found.
The bhindi amchur (okra mixed with mango powder) is as appealing as it is unusual, while the paneer patrawalla – cottage cheese marinated with green masala and wrapped in a banana leave – is pleasingly light for such a potentially stomach-anchoring dish.
Meat and fish are also treated with due care here, with tandoori dishes such as the tiranga murgh (a slow-cooked chicken dish akin to a biryani) all excellent. The restaurant fails to live up to its name in a few areas, however.
Chewy naan and flimsy roti are workmanlike – more graft than craft – and items such as aloo katlyan (sliced potatoes tossed with red chillies and curry leaves) will prompt little more than a wearied shrug.
