Bellucci
Delicate Italian restaurant in the Wafi complex Discuss this article

We’ve found service over-attentive at Bellucci – probably because it’s normally frighteningly quiet. If you can forgive the flawed service, the food is pretty good. The minestrone soup is a densely populated broth of diced vegetables and plump beans, speckled with curved shavings of pungent parmesan, and the bresaola is curled in dark pink wisps of cured beef on a springy bed of green salad and is simply delicious.
The seafood tagliatelle is a fiesta of tangled green pasta ribbons, festooned with robust prawns, substantial squid rings, fleshy mussels and spidery baby octopus caught in a downpour of blustery tomato sauce. The lasagne bolognese is a comforting raft of softly layered pasta, beef and cheese that dissolves in the mouth in a flush of creamy indulgence.
It’s a puzzle why Bellucci is so empty when the food is so good, but the answer could lie in the desserts. The passionfruit sorbet is probably citrussy enough to be used as paint stripper, and the chocolate tart is as dry and chewy as a polystyrene model.
Skip desserts and you can have a fairly agreeable meal at Bellucci’s.
