South African steaks at the Habtoor resort 10 Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008
Expect a selection of South African steaks, chicken and a smattering of seafood alongside regional specialities such as bobotie and bunny chow. The latter turns out to be a starter packed with a mild chicken curry inside a large chunk of bread, topped off with some tangy chicken bites, and a brisk mango pickle on the side.
The bobotie, meanwhile, is best described to newcomers as a little cottage pie, replete with a suety lid, curried beef and hunks of lamb shank nestling on top. A dollop of banana curry ice-cream sits confrontationally to the side and complements the dish. Unfortunately the mains are not quite as impressive.
A chunky beef espeteda is made up of some tough cuts marinated in an underwhelming unguent, while steaks can remain underdone despite a quick trip back to the kitchen. Still, if you’re in the mood for meat, and lots of it, then there are plenty of worse places to be.
