Chinese Treasure

Ascending the well-worn red-carpeted stairs illuminated by Chinese lanterns, you’re likely to feel like you’re on the set of Big Trouble in Little China Reviews

Ascending the well-worn red-carpeted stairs illuminated by Chinese lanterns, you’re likely to feel like you’re on the set of Big Trouble in Little China. Unlike the film set though, Chinatown’s authenticity is still artfully in tact. While the food here is probably too calorific for a movie star’s taste, it is certainly worthy of an ‘A-lister’s’ palate. Guests are seated at crimson tables enclosed by red walls and surrounded by mini waterfalls; the atmosphere is positively regal. The menu is traditional and intriguing. The limited wine list is compensated for by an impressive array of cocktails and mocktails, although those wishing for something more cleansing can opt for refreshing Chinese tea.

The superstar starter is the seafood soup, while for the main course you can’t go wrong with the hot braised chicken in hula sauce – perfectly tender and generously portioned – or the sizzling beef in sa-tsa sauce accompanied by a bowl of crunchy garlic rice. Be sure to end your meal with their candied honey noodles served with smooth vanilla ice cream. Authentic, extremely wellpriced regional food in a captivating setting; at lunch time you can get a three-course meal here with a bottle of water for the astonishing price of Dhs28.50.

Its one of the authenticated reputed famous Chinese restaurant. they carry a long experience in Dubai. Their food is great. Its a very good family atmosphere and with a good decore. The roof is high, the enviorment is Chinese. Once you go you will get addicted to their good quality food.

They can reduce the rates back to previous ones in order to attract more customers.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on 17th February, 2009 to celebrate a cousins birthday. Having heard so much about this place, our group of 7 family members decided to go to Chinese Treasure as its a short way from International City.

The decor of the place is superb. The entrace makes you feel that you are entering some ancient chinese temple with all types of statues and artifacts around. Indeed we had the feeling of warmt.

However the welcoming by the host wasnt so warming and I would say cold. We got a loud and kinda rude server who was rushing us through our orders. We didnt mind it in the beginning, but it started to get irritating after a while. Having been to some of the best chinese and other restaurants in Dubai we expected some level of more courteous service.

The starter were superb and I recommend that you try out the garlic prawns and red chilly chicken. The red chilly chicken was my favourite. We tried the prawn crackers, but they were kinda soft instead of crispy.

As its a licensed restaurant, I recommend you try the Cocktails. We all had a selection of cocktails and I personnally recommend the Margarita here as it was recommend by our server (well, he did do something good you see).

Coming the main course part, we tried the mixed hakka noodles (w/o veggies), schezuan fried rice, beef crispy and some other items which I cant remember. I would give the food 5 out of 7 here. In my history of dining, it was the first time I seen an authentic chinese restaurant put chicken sausages in the noddles and fried rice, instead of chicken pieces. I informed our server and the restaurant host, but they said they always use sausages. Frankly I only remember sausages being used by my folks at home when making noodles and not at authentic chinese restaurants. The server refused to listen and forced us to have it. Secondly we asked for no veggies in the noddles and fried rice, but to our surprise this wasnt followed. When we questioned the server, he took the item to the kitchen, hand picked the veggies out (yucks!!) and brought it back and we could still see the veggies.

This restaurant lacks a lot in service and really needs to do something.

Food - is good, but the cook seems to be in a hurry and messed up our orders.

There was no restaurant manager on duty and the next day when I called, it was kind of Nilkant Das to apologise, but frankly what can an apology do? I think the server had to replace the items and be more courteous.
