Double Decker is a bar themed around London transport and celebrates everything that’s great about the British capital. From the grandiose coats of armour adorning the walls to the hordes of sunburnt punters parading around, it’s a home away from home for Brits.

Thankfully, the menu is slightly more diverse. Sure, there’s (debatably) the best of British food, including a variety of pies, fish and chips and rack of lamb, but there’s also an around-the-world section where you can broaden your culinary horizons

For starters, the army of succulent coiled grilled shrimps and curly fries make for a good choice, while the chewy deep-fried camembert both pleasantly challenges the jaw and soaks up the many beers you can choose from.

With decent live music during the week, a mainstream DJ and karaoke at weekends, coupled with consistently nifty service, Double Decker may not be the plushest place in town, but its complete lack of pretension is strangely attractive, when contrasted to the fancy five-star Dubai norm.
