From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

La Piazza occupies a faux-Italian niche in a strip of restaurants that provides fuel and refreshment to fatigued shoppers, and in all honesty – despite its phoney finishes – it does a better job than most of its neighbours.

The bresaola salad presents a sizeable wigwam of thinly sliced cured beef and parmesan shavings above a forest of fresh spinach leaves; while the linguine fruitti de mare excites with its jumbled mass of al dente pasta, calamari, prawns and shellfish in a rich tomato sauce.

The linguine isn’t cheap – it’s just Dhs4 more for a far superior offering at the excellent Marzano in the shadow of the Burj Dubai – but when you’re laden with shopping, you haven’t much choice.

Steer clear of the soggy cheesecake, and see that this Disneyland slice of Venice is well worth a punt.
