From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

More often than not, the punters frequenting this Jumeirah Rotana establishment are British, European or Lebanese, and wouldn’t know a true Bostonian if they slapped them on the back and gave them a Red Sox T-shirt. But that doesn’t mean the bar is any less like the one featured in US 80s comedy show Cheers that it’s modelled on, with the same lived-in feeling, lack of pretension and well-moulded bar stools.

It’s especially popular on quiz nights and ladies’ nights – both have large followings thanks to generous prizes and drinks deals respectively. It can get very lively during football matches. The large and low-priced pub portions arrive faster than you can say ‘carb carnival’ and include burgers, pasta and a range of steaks (that can also be picked up as takeaway), while the mediocre DJ will do his best to deafen the crowd with a bizarre mix of tunes.
