From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011

La Petite Maison has found a perfect home in DIFC, tucked away amid art galleries and boutique stores, guests approach its shuttered façade via a leafy courtyard rather than through a hotel lobby. The restaurant’s interior takes the form of a high-end French bistro (a near-carbon copy of the Mayfair venue), its cream walls punctuated with tasteful modern art, its floor occupied by white-clothed tables. The overall effect is marvellous and oozes continental charm without being contrived. Dishes are meant for sharing and include glistening green beans dotted with smooth chunks of foie gras and carpaccio of scallops – a plate of delicate disc-shaped slithers, sprinkled with shavings of almonds, pistachios and juicy cranberries. Mains feature delicacies such as a salt-baked fillet of sea bass, which flakes away beautifully at the touch of a knife. Desserts prove to be on the generous side – the vanilla crème brûlée is definitely a dish for two. A restaurant shouldn’t be commended for being ‘un-Dubai’, but La Petite Maison scores points for offering well-prepared comfort food in a setting that provides a sense of escapism in a city that, at times, can run short on imagination. Average price of a meal for two (including soft drinks) Dhs450-550. All major credit cards included.

I took my boyfriend to La Petite Maison, since I wanted to make him discover the French Gastronomie. As a French National, I can tell you that La Petite Maison doesn't really represent 10 % of what a French restaurant should be. The décor of the tables and of the place looks more like a basic French bistrot. The presentation of the food is nil, which is a shame for a French gastronomie restaurant. But the main point is that the main course were served without being accompagnied by a French puree or vegetables. This is a no no, it is a basic of having French food. The starters and the dessert were delicious but the main course were a disaster. If you thinking to go for a romantic dinner, forget it the place is over crowded and the table to close to each other, so we could hear the entire conversation of the table next to us. So conclusion, pricewise it was ok for all what we ordered , but the value of what we had was not really fair. We went out still feeling hungry. Don't go, unless its a business lunch and the company is paying for.

Oh dear, where to begin. This place needs to be avoided for the sake of basic human decency. Because they are a bit popular in dubai nowadays, everything reeks of the "prettiest girl at the dance" syndrome. Ive got news for you guys, 10000000 "flavour of the week restaurants" have come and gone in the world, and i predict that fate will arrive at lpm's door soon. The monumental arrogance of the telephone operators, hosts, waiters and managers was astounding. I was honestly confused at times about who was paying who for this food. everyone i dealt with from booking to bill was having an ego contest with not just me, but seemingly with all our fellow diners! Food was nice, shame it was continually dropped down in front of us with a charm more cave-man than gallic. The price point sealed the deal to put it right at the bottom of my recommendations list. In dubai people are spoilt for restaurant choices so if youre thinking of going then do yourself a favour, visit one of the other places in DIFC or beyond where someone might smile at you or treat you like a human being.

Just by looking at the sheer number of reviews up above, you know its a resturant that soooo many people have 1- tried 2- liked/disliked enough to come back and write a review.

Im one of the recurring customers of this resturant as well. Why?
they sell the best french food in town. Amazing burrata, super fresh lobster salad, finger licking lamb chops ( i recall they call it lamb shank on the menu) and to-die-for pain perdu!

Although its a little pricey and noisy, but hey anything for GOOD food :)

It’s been 8 months since I visited Le Peitite Maison last time and I must say our last night dinner was quite disappointing.

I invited my partner for dinner to celebrate his birthday and arranged the booking a week in advance. Upon reservation I requested for a birthday cake/tart to be arranged and also provided the name to be written on it. The hostess kindly confirmed this request.

The dinner started quite bad after finding a piece of plastic paper or plastic packaging, in crab/lobster salad (definitely something not eatable).

Upon ordering the dessert the birthday cake never arrived and nobody acknowledged that.

By choosing this restaurant I expected to have great birthday dinner but there was only disappointment. I don’t think it’s right to feel this way especially when you pay AED 1,500 for dinner for two.

The first time I came here two years ago for a business lunch I loved it. I returned for a Friday lunch with my husband in March and was severely disappointed - and this is the restaurant I used to tell people was my favourite in Dubai! I feel incredibly embarrassed about that now. What I remembered as divine garlic prawns were just OK this time, and the courgette flowers fried with anchovy were greasy, floppy things with only one tiny speck of anchovy. When we asked a waiter about it, instead of offering to get more anchovies for us, or at least being polite, he sneered "That's how it come'. All of the waiters were like version's of Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno, the maitre d was a formidable young lady, and they all seemed far more concerned with snarling, smouldering and strutting than they were with serving any plebs like me. I can't really say much for the clientele either though - overfed, overpaid, eye-cutting and pretentious. I left feeling thoroughly judged and inadequate and really annoyed that I'd coughed up so much cash for a really quite demoralising experience. The cherry on the cake was being totally ignored while we walked out past the line-up of snarly waiters and the maitre'd. What are they standing there for if not to meet and greet and make people feel welcome to return? My "Thank you, goodbye!" fell on deaf ears so I yelled it in a really unhinged way to try and get a reaction. I guess this place just brings out the worst in everyone.

My first impression was very bad. Upon making the reservation over the phone the reservation staff was very rude and arrogant seems like they don’t want to take any reservations or they have attitude problems, no one has a smiley and approachable voice tone. Staffs have to be friendly and approachable; reservation staff needs some serious attitude trainings.

I used to be a fan, and I tolerated all the bad service ( waiters being very very inattentive, orders being served incorrectly....etc and of course the very strange 2 hour limit) and therefore was very happy to recommend colleagues for a business lunch.
The manager IMPLIED during the meal that i lacked sufficient standards!!!
because i had asked for the dessert menu 3 times. after being ignored the the first two, he very rudely ( and without any grace or elegance about it, i mean if you are being Gallicly rude have the gallic charm and finesse at least) explained that because there were standards he could not give us the menu until he had cleared the table. the table had been ready to be cleared for the last 3 times ( the reason why we had originally asked ofr the dessert menu) but instead ..... long and short his explanation was that they didnt want to get the menus dirty ( LPM couldnt afford to print dessert menus after the pricing they have????)if it is standards you are talking about then why is it that the manager dresses in a manner more sutied to someone goin clubbing???? in the middle of the afternoon.
the rest of the staff though clueless and seriusly slow ( in all sense of the word) are pleasant. but for me its the people that make the most important impression in the mix. i
Oh and i forgot about the supreme audacity - no comment card!!! please email, . Reallly, after being treated this way ( paying for being treated this way i might add) I will walk away.
This is my very first review and i would not have done this had the manager not made this so personal

La Petit Maison is OFF my favorites list after dinner last night there. Food was fine as usual, but the service was somewhat far from best. It started off with the waiters confusing drinks ordered, and ended with us almost being kicked out of restaurant after spending more than 2,200 AED for 2 people, as we overstayed our allocated time (I was not advised about the time limit). They refused to serve coffee on that premise. This is a problem of cheap American airlines - they overbook the seats, but this is not a smart strategy as people tend to stay longer rather than leave early, and if you ask them to leave - they don't come back. Over-commercialized, and Zero care for customers, not going beyond serving food & drinks. Should have read the signal about the quality of service and customer care when the lady who booked table managed to make somewhat rude comments even within couple of minutes while making the reservation! Doesn't leave good memories.

The food I must say is very good, one of the best I had in Dubai, but the service is disappointing. For a bill of AED 1'000 or more you would expect to be treated with more care. Waiters made a lot of mistakes in taking orders and they didn't bother too much at our complain.
The ambient is nice, but too noisy. I'm sorry but I think it's not worth the price overall

The service is not poor, is ZERO! After our complaints to the manager, nobody replied. The food is good but really the service was horrible: the bread left on the table and not on a plate, the courses were put on the table without explanation, we ordered as main course a fish and the waiter served us lamb and when we complained he told us that for fish more time is needed for cooking it...so we ate lamb...

Very very disappointing for a bill of AED 1150!!!!

A fantastic place! We are visiting from the UK and we heard many good comments. We didn't know how the weekends work here in Dubai, but apparently a Saturday is a like there Sunday (so our daughter told us). So she said most places are a bit quite. Definitely not the case here! The place was alive! We had an 8pm reservation and were greeted by an incredibly warm and friendly English guy. We where first seated near the bar, however we moved as smoking is permitted at the bar itself. They quickly and smartly moved us to another table where we were taken care of by a very charismatic French man Norman. The Burrata dish was first recommended and yes! good recommendation!!! Im not a person who enjoys lamb, but trying my wife's was the best idea. By the way they work on the principle of sharing the dishes, at first we weren't to sure but actually a very good idea!! I would love to bring a large group to a restaurant like this so we could all try the wonderful things they have to offer. A great night out!!

This place makes a refreshing change for Dubai. A relatively upscale restaurant that is all about food, rather than a place to be seen. I have visited La Petite Maison on several occasions and have yet to be disappointed.

The decor is nice; light and airy punctuated by tasteful artwork. The service is good; professional and efficient staff who know what they are talking about and are extremely accommodating. The food is superb; simple recipes but delivered with aplomb, the nicoise concept proving very amenable to a meal with friends. With all of this taken into account, 3 courses + wine, water and coffee for around 700 Dh per head strikes me as pretty good value for money.

Having read lots of negative reviews from people who have been to this restaurant once and thrown a tantrum because the lampshades were the wrong colour, I'd consider this yet another reason to recommend LPM. I always enjoy the ambience of a restaurant patronised by people who enjoy food, rather than poseurs who know the price everything, but the value of nothing.

What an experience! Total failure. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. If you are considering, save your money and go elsewhere! Service thinks they're better than you. Lousy complaint handling. Restaurant manager wouldnt even come to the table when specifically asked. Food was bland, greasy, and plain. Lousy product knowledge. Staff dont know where anything is from or how its prepared. For food that was all tasted (not eaten) 1100 seems a bit steep. At least when bones were found in the fish and old ingredients reach the table, you would think an apology is in order but not at La Petite Maison....here you can expect the waiter/waitress to sigh or just a emotionless "oh" Never again!

I still don't understand the big fuzz about this place. It's nothing more than a regular French Brasserie. It's way too overpriced, quality is ok, service is good though, it's always a pleasure being served by professionals. Best place for "showing off" people, so if you like this atmosphere go and enjoy, otherwise I would highly recommend AOC Brasserie.

Food was very good, but service is disappointing.
We had to wait 30 mins to be seated, eventhough the reservation was for 10.30 pm. Bartenders are offering the most expensive drinks at the bar.
Even before getting the menues in our hands we got 2 salads on the table that we never ordered. We asked the waiter and she said its a mistake and she will stop the food. Later on those two salads was included into our bill.
2 of 3 main courses were messed up and we had to wait 15 min longer to get a right order.
I want to hope i was just ublucky and will give another chance to this place. As food and atmosphere is really lovely there.

I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. The food and service were good and our French waiter was knowledgable. The prices are too high though and need to be brought down by a third at least. Our meal for two came in at 1200 dhs and we ordered fairly modestly.

A lot of other comments are remarking that the food is Italian. It isn't, it is Nicoise, which does share a lot of core components with northern Italian cuisine due to their geographical proximity.

Great restaurant and I would be back more regularly if only they would drop their prices.

The cottage is the quintessential French restaurant in the Financial Centre. Framework and brasserie with Mediterranean touches. Nice terrace at the entrance of the restaurant.

To date, business lunch for three. Unfortunately, our reservation of old had not been taken into account and because of the success of the restaurant, we had to settle for the terrace.

The restaurant attracts many businessman and people just "who wants to be see.....". Some waiters speak French.

That day we chose the following dishes:

Starters:
- Tomato and Burrata
- Beef Carpaccio
- Green Beans Salad with Foie Gras (my choice)

Dishes
- Sole Sautéed in Mustardseed (with accompanying selected green beans)
- Grilled Sirloin (400g) (accompanying with French fries)
- Grilled Veal Chop (accompanying with potato gratin) - My choice.

Beverages: 1 liter plain water, 1 liter sparkling water, 3 ristrettos

Initially, a bread basket is proposed, choice of white or two grains. Fresh bread.

Then, the entries are put on the table (bad service and timing because spacing of approx. 20-25 minutes between the intake of the first and third entry)

I must say that the bean salad was excellent accompanied by foie gras. Crispy to perfection.

As main dish, my veal chop was good but does not justify its price (see below). In addition, damage that a sauce is not proposed with. A contrario, excellent potato gratin, a treat. My friends have also found their food good. I could also taste the fries, which I have shaped are "homemade" french fries

Overall, I would qualified the food as excellent, but the service is "light", and too slow, also prices are excessive. But the setting is really nice.

Areas for improvement:
- The price (225 AED plus 10% of charges and services) for a veal chop is abused. As well as AED 320 for a fried sole with mustard seeds.
- Service slow. The restaurant works well but the servers don't follow and the dishes don't arrive at the same time at the table

had a reservation. We said we didn't but since it was just two of us and there were some free tables they gave us a table. When they gave us the dinner menu, we said we wanted the dessert menu. The waiter told us that we had to order dinner and could not just order dessert. When we spoke to the restaurant manager, who by the way had the most horrible attitude ever.. She blatantly told us that it was their restaurant policy and we should have called and inquired and made a reservation and then we would have known. Whatever their reasons maybe for such a policy- break even, restricting quality of customers etc., this was truly a nasty thing for a restaurant to do- refuse to serve just dessert. Their food might be great and wow...from what I have read.. But a stunt like this is absolutely unforgivable- no matter how popular a restaurant is. It is a total violation of a consumers rights. Guess they have their own niche of customers they choose to keep happy and since we obviously didn't fall in that category it was convenient to discriminate. Thanks la petite maison for a truly disappointing show.

Ordered a 400 Dirham birthday cake for my mother's birthday. Cake arrived, frozen solid. No apology and extremely poor reaction. Have the restaurant management ever heard of 'service recovery'? There appears to be a belief in La Petite Maison that they can do no wrong, and when they do, cannot actually accept the fact that they have. If they don't start addressing their customer service 'holier than thou' attitude they will simply close down.

Only 3 good things to say about it:

great bartenders with love for detail - try the le petite spritzer
lady sommelier which just kept her cool presence
impressive and interesting wine list

Arrived at 7pm and waited at the bar, restaurant was still empty.
decor is amazing and i enjoyed my time at the bar with very friendly, knowledgable and service oriented bartenders. at 7.30pm the restaurant filled up very quickly and you could notice in their service behaviour that they were on a time pressure.
Very nice waiter, but only a quick introduction to the food concept. Before anything else, he mentioned that about 5 dishes are not available tonight..which was a small disappointment.

Lady sommelier asked very friendly if she can take care of the wine, however i had already choosen. She was throughout the evening on each table and keeping her calm presence. Sadly she did not communicate at all to the guests.

We ordered french beans with foie gras, goat cheese, tuna carpaccio, as mains gnocci and duck l'orange. after 5 minutes our waiter came again that the duck quality is not approved by the chef de cuisine for the evening and not available...dont you realise this kind of thing before the service starts???

all food we got was mediocre, nothing special, brasserie style.
Total mix of italian and french food...too many pasta dishes on the menu.
AND REALLY: how difficult is it to present gnocchi nicely? that was a bowl of gnocchi with sauce...i get that for 20 AED at each pizza service!!!
Presentation was boring, no love for detail. waiter did not explain anything but just served food and left the table.
between courses we barely had time for a cigarette. mains arrived while still smoking, the waitress just kept our food on the table and left. side dishes are getting cold quickly ...maybe investing in some table rechauds would be nice.
the atmosphere was noisy, crowdy, tables very close together..not the atmosphere you want for a special evening on saturdays.

1 most astonishing thing: who are all these people in black suits? i counted 4 at the door and at least 6 in service, and one in a grey suit! they were walking around a lot, but none of them spoke to any of the guest and inquired about our evening.
Dessert was alright, but again nothing which said whow

You dont have to worry about being pressured to leave after 2 hours. We were done after 2hours and were eager to leave to have a quiet conversation somewhere else.
We actually paid 1100 AED for 2 people (3 starter, 2 main courses, 2 desserts, 2 sprizter 1 bottle of wine) which is absolutely too much for this kind of brasserie food and bored service)

Overrated.
I am not sure what makes this restaurant French besides the name?
La Petite Maison in Nice was the real thing. A dark lighted small restaurant in a back street of Nice with delicious Provence recipes.
This one in Dubai is the perfect example of a charming restaurant turning into a chain and using the French idea as a marketing platform.

The seats are uncomfortable. The staff is arrogant. The food? Not what I expect from a French restaurant. Burrata? Please this is Italian cheese! Creme Brûlée is served in a massive plate. That would not be a French restaurant without creme brûlée would it?

The best course is definitely the ribeye. Best one I ate in Dubai. Although the last one was a disappointment. It seems that the place is not maintaining the level they had last year.

If you want a French diner go to Le Classique.
Or I suggest you go to Gramercy next door. They have excellent French courses at a decent prize. And they have creme brûlée... Cold, but that is Dubai.

My husband and I went to La Petite Maison a couple of nights ago.Having hear quite a few bad reviews from friends about this place, my husband was expecting a bad experience all around but went there to please me as I really wanted to try it, having tried the London one.
Suffice it to say that we had a wonderful evening, on all aspects. The only small comment I can make is that when we arrived early we were asked if we wanted to have a drink at the bar, an idea which we welcomed. When the drinks came, they were not accompanied by any nibblrs such as carrots, nuts or chips like other bars provide. But it is not a disaster. It would have made the drink a little more enjoyable.
The restaurant was full on the late sitting on a sunday night, whereas neighbouring restaurants were much quiter.
The atmosphere is very elegant - thankfully the ladies made an effort to dress nicely rather than the casual jeans look which we see currently more often than not!
And more importantly, our waiter was amazing. His anme is Louis and he is not French. He took very good care of us and was very chatty but knew when to stop.
We had a lovely night and I cant wait to go back again. Dont know what all the bad reviews are about.

I visited this establishment two weeks ago for lunch and was far from impressed.

The restaurant was empty when we came for lunch, which is understandable since it's ramadan. However, we were seated at a table right next to the only other table in the restaurant and when another couple arrived, they were also seated in the same area.

Our table was wobbly and upon pointing this out to the waiter nothing was done to fix it. We were served expensive imported water even though we asked for local water and the waiter, a French snobby guy, said 'yes certainly'.

Throughout our lunch, the staff were talking to each other at the bar instead of serving us and i had to poor water for me and my wife several times. Food was tasty but portion sizes are too small for the price your paying.

Our bill was 780AED!!!!! For two courses each, one dessert, one bottle of water and one diet coke. Outrageous!

Will not be returning and definitely tell everyone who considers La Petite Maison.

Since it was open for lunch during Ramadan I decided to give this place a try yestrday. Looks more like an elegant canteen with food being ordered and delivered to the table,
Went for the squeeking green beans with foie gras. Was recommended to try the seabass. Two pieces of fresh and hot seabass which were diappointingly small and only faintly flavoured and at Dhs 175 was overpriced as also the starter. A much more enjoyable seabass casn be had at half the price at Warehouse which itself is located at Le Meridien.
The waiters and staff were pleasant and cheerful.

I am have been few times to this restaurant and I am gonna keep going there!
Food is very simple but so tasty, those guys have completely understood what French cuisine is about.
I recommend the burrata, truffle White beans and the rib eye is the best!
Very happy happy that the italian wines have been introduced to the wine list, we had an amazing Nebbiolo recommended by the lady Sommelier.
Service very simple and very knowledgable. This restaurant is not cheap but so worthed!!
Thanks La PEtite Maison for being in DUbai......

Felt like a proper restaurant rather than sitting in yet another hotel in Dubai!

This is officially my favourite restaurant in Dubai. I let the waiter recommend the dishes and everything tasted wonderful. Don't miss out on the Tuna Carpaccio and Asparagus with truffle sauce for starters, Seabass for entree, and the chocolate mousse or creme brulee for dessert. The ambience was great and the people looked good. Our bill was 1600Dhs for 4 people, and we don't drink alcohol. But it's definately worth it. I agree that they could serve more bread on the tables.

Non. Unless you are planning to overpay for mediocre bistro food while sitting 10 inches from your fellow diners, give this place a miss. Service is stuff without delivery. I was there with my wife for lunch and this place felt like a french zoo. Too much noise, ordinary food, inflated prices, lousy service. This is the restaurant for pretencious folks who have no idea what a real french restaurant looks like.

AVOID.

I went to this restaurant last night and was pretty skeptical to begin with. Reading the reviews of being told you had to leave the Restaurant in military style made me uneasy. However iv'e lived here in Dubai now for 2 years and have come to learn that no matter where people of the highly expat population come from they think they can throw their weight around!
Not here however. If you've traveled the world and been to the great restaurants, the time limiting on tables is common place. They do this of coarse for revenue but also because they are so popular. When my wife booked we were made aware that they were fully booked and we would have to leave the table at a certain time. Absolutely no problem for us as my wife used to be in restaurant PR in London. But still reading the reviews i felt it may be heavy handed. Not at all! we left in due time and were able to enjoy all the scrumptious delights we could!
I should note my wife and I do many business lunches and it seems to be the norm that people in Dubai arrive at their own time. Especially for dinner meetings. She once waited an hour for her clients at Zuma and they had a vacate time also. which was heavy handled!
Now the real grit. The food was sensational. We were recommended by our utterly polite and professional French waitress to try the house special of Burrata. A simply dish consisting of a mozzarella type cheese (Insanely tasty!), Italian cherry tomatoes and fresh basil, drizzled with a little olive oil and seasoned! Amazing! Simplicity is the key they say.
Could not fault the mains (Veal, Rib Eye and Sea Bass) and the dessert just put the cherry on the cake (so to speak!)
The service was immaculate throughout. From the sommeliers, waiters and bartenders (where we finished with perfectly blended martinis)
The Maitre De from Australia (i think the rest are all French! a pleasant change from the usual subservience of the Dubai restaurant scene)was so warm and welcoming too, he was checking on us through the courses and eventually tempted us with the (yet again) simple but well crafted dessert menu.
I dont believe this is a "fine dining" restaurant, it's to welcoming!!!!! I think the previous reviewers need to see that fact and not put it on that pedestal.
Well done to the guys at La petite. The wife is already doing the business lunches their and we are going to be back in a few weeks.

I didn't even make it past the reservations....

What proper French restaurant puts a 2 hour limit on your dining experience!! Dining in a nice restaurant is a social event and I have never been asked to leave my table in 2hrs at any restaurant in France. Seems to me like they are more concerned with turning tables then providing a quality service.

Authentic French in a town full of fakes. My wife and I had a great experience last night -- the service was excellent and the food worth every dirham especially the duck. We also loved the shared dish concept. Hard to believe that some people have complained about the portion size -- the creme brulee alone could've fed a family of five. After reading the reviews here, I have more doubts about the quality of reviewers than the restaurant. We'll certainly go back.

Although I have eaten in this restaurant a few times - and enjoy the sharing concept and the food although a bit pricey for what it is - it was well prepared and everyone always liked their dishes - However, I am so incensed by the rudeness of the booking staff I feel I have to comment!

I rang today to confirm my booking as I had not heard from them only to be told that I had the wrong time by 30 minutes and they had lost 2 pax off the booking. Apparently it could not possibly be there mistake! Well the very rude booking person agreed to reinstate the full number but on the time we had to compromise - ok mistakes are made but rudeness to your customers only comes back to you......you need to take a look at some of your reviews and think about your reputation in Dubai. You are providing a service and you are in a service industry - why don't you try giving some! Disappointed.

I was extremely dissapointed with this restaurants service, quality of food and everything was delayed.

When we arrived, we sat at the bar (which is actually quite pretty) and then we were seated at our table. This took place 30 mins after the table was actually booked for. While at the bar the bartenders kept forcing champagne and expensive cocktails down our throats which was quite uncomfortable for me as i had clients to entertain and all i wanted to do was get to our table.

While at the table the very sly hostess kept speaking french and continued to speak in french with a guest of mine who was also french. Never asked me to take a look at the wine list even though my french guest kept referring things to me and i was paying for the meal.

The food was extremely dissapointing - most of the starters were pretty boring with exception to the scallops and the sardines. The portions sizes were too small for the price they were charging us. While the waitress kept conversing in French and we all stared blankly at her we placed our orders for starters and apps.

The starters arrived in no time, but then again i dont think it required a lot of time to puit together a plate of beets :(
When the time came for our main courses - we had all orders fish for our mains. All different fish but all COLD ! average and very very boring. Not seasoned well and the worst part of it all was that we were left on our own. No one visited the table to inquire if we were happy or not.

We then placed our orders for dessert hoping for some sign of excitement and warmth. The deserts were delayed by an hour and the waitress never even bothered to tell us what was happening until i asked. I was then told that something in the kitchen had broken down and therefore the delay. The creme brulee and the pain perdu were good.

3 people with sufficient amounts of wine and a 3 course meal cost over 4000 dirhams. there are better restaurants in Dubai where i would have paid lesser than that for an experience i would truly remember. Especially without the french speaking arragont server and staff.

We liked our bread boy though ... he was always there to fill ouyr stomachs with good bread and trust me that is definitely needed after a very very dissapointing, boring and arrangont experience.

our reservation was at 10.30pm on a Thursday night and when we got there (on time), our table wasn't ready yet so we had to wait at the bar for 15mins.
The decor was really nice, love the painting on the walls and layout of the restaurant, however the chairs are not suitable for long sitting specially if you have back issues... i didn't like the ambience because eventhough the decor was really nice, it was a bit loud and my date and i had to scream a bit to hear each other.
service was ok but the waitresses we had spoke in such a low volume that it was hard to understand them combined with the noisy ambience.
the biggest disappointment was the food considering the cost. the food was not bad, but it wasn't great either. It was between good and mediocre... but, for the price we paid (AED900 for two), we should have gotten more than just mediocre especially in a town where the standards are quite high.
just for reference, we ordered the deep fried courgette flowers and onion with anchovies for starters and for main we had the sea bass(AE175!!!) and shrimp pasta, plus drinks.

I went to La Petite Maison for the first time last night after hearing mixed reviews and was very pleasantly surprised.

I loved the location and the entrance - I felt like I had been transported back to Europe which is always a plus!

The staff have clearly been improved upon, we were very very well looked after, offered a drink at the bar whilst they prepared an extra table for us (we had no booking). The staff came over and chatted with us frequently (perhaps because the French friends we were with had dined there often) and were able to recommend dishes to me when I couldn't decide. I had the Tuna carpaccio which was divine, the chicken and the potato gratin which I would gladly eat daily forever more! We finished the meal sharing a creme brulee which was one of the nicest I have tasted.

The whole experience last night was a pleasure and as a frequent diner in Dubai's 'best' restaurants, I can say with authorisation it was one of best, if not the best.

Highly highly recommended.

I have been in nice and london into la petite maison and was always more than exited of the quaility and the service, When I was searching for the restaurant in Dubai I also found some negative feedback regarding the service, So we had ixed feeling to make a reservation when we stayed in dubai only for some days. So we made a reservation for 6 pax on monday and it was really outstanding from the very beginning and best in Dubai out of our point of view so we cancelled another reservation to get the chance to eat again into la petite maison on wednesday.
as I said again super service and highest quality.

I only can recommend everybody to spend a day into this fatastic concept.

First time i had dinner tonight in La Petite Maison with me and my boyfriend. We came early, had some drinks at the bar and were taken to our nice corner table. Our waiter was amazing, i could tell he was busy but never once did he not anticipate our needs before we even ask for it.

The food was fabulous. Desserts - best we ever had, i had to get double helpings of it after.

I would say this restaurant is amazing and now my boyfriend has to take me there every fortnight. Lets just hope we manage to get bookings.

My partner and I booked a table for New Years Eve at La Petite Maison and we were both pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews, I have to say that we had a great time. We were escorted to our table by a smiling receptionist then as we sat we noticed the DJ in the corner. It was a nice addition to our evening.

We both thought the food was incredible and our waiter Max was helpful in explaining the sharing concept and suggesting different dishes.

The atmosphere was buzzy and everyone seemed happy. The service we received was generally good with an array of different waiters helping to keep our table either clean or filled with new dishes.

Even though it was busy both my partner and I felt very much attended to by the staff and as the night went on the party atmosphere began to take full swing, especially just before midnight when the workers of the restaurant walked around all together doing the countdown.

We really enjoyed ourselves and will be going back, everyone was friendly and helpful and of course the food was absolutely amazing.

Thumbs Up for La Petite Maison

Honestly, I had a horrible experience there not once or twice but three times!

The food was very late on 3 occassions and even though it was their fault our food was late, the hostess kept on annoying us at having to give up the table!! which is very rude and unheard of in a fine dining restaurant!

The waiters had attitude and dont care to smile or happy to hear constructive feedback.

All who want to in fact venture there -- be warned their is an eject button on your seats if you dont gulp the food on time before the next booking even if in fact the food is late due to their mismanaged kitchen. and, they are always out of dishes on the menu so be ready to be disappointed.

Finally, at the prices per head they charge, they should care more about the service.

Wow! was the only word we could express after each mouthful. This was followed by stares of amazement around the table.

The food was sublime.

We met CHef Izi who spoilt us with every one of his desserts at the end of the evening. The carpaccio of scallops was phenomenal as was the steak, chicken, beans and foie gras.

The staff have clearly taken any bad comments to heart and were great - attentive and polite but never obtrusive and had a clear knowledge of their menu. The bar staff were great and mixed up a few great aperitifs for us. We were also most impressed with the sommelier who used her knowledge to assist us with the wine list but remained expertly professional.

The atmosphere was pure European, not like other restaurants in Dubai at all. It didnt feel pretentious or stiff.

On the whole the food was pricey but worth every penny.
We will definitely be back many times where we'll put our trust in Chef Izi and allow him customize our menu.

The only downside is that going forward every other meal will taste ordinary in comparison.

So I haven't gone yet to the restaurant and I'm considering canceling my reservation. It seems that the restaurant brought along the french rudeness.

I call to make a booking and instead of saying looking forward to seeing you, I hear "Mam, please be informed that the table is reserved for someone else after 2 hours" and I asked will be kicked out if we don't finish eating, in which she replies, "mam, if the other guests are late then you can stay or if we find them another table"

Not sure if i will consider going there tonight.

I have been here on 3 occasions (2 not my choice) and yes the food is pretty good (for Dubai at least). It's fairly light and arrives hot - the sharing principle I also like. However, the arrogant service is downright unacceptable, especially at those prices.

I ordered a glass of wine at the bar and it was clearly off...obviously trying to pass this off when I was waiting for my group to arrive. They didn't apologize but at least opened a fresh bottle and poured a glass....with great reluctance !

It's a noisy atmosphere (which I like) but someone needs to sort out the staff attitude issues. I may return but only reluctantly - I can't handle the humiliation !

What a HUGE disappointment. Having read many positive reviews and heard good reports from friends, we were really looking forward to dining at La Petite Maison. We arrived and were very impressed by the décor and the general buzz in the place…great crowd and ambience. We had a drink at the bar and were served by a very pleasant barman. So far, so good.
However, when we were seated at our table (late) things started to go downhill. We ordered a bottle of still water and were brought sparkling which wasn’t a big deal but proved to be the first of many mistakes which really made our dining experience less than pleasant. The waiter was extremely curt if not borderline rude. One of my friends asked if there was any bread to which he gruffly replied “No”. At no point did he engage in any form of conversation, make recommendations or explain any of the dishes, and his air of arrogance really started to grate as the night wore on. Having taken our order for one chicken and two sea bass dishes, we were later informed that the kitchen had run out of sea bass. My friends then made a second selection from the menu only to be told minutes later that this too was unavailable. What was most surprising was the lack of apology for what was the restaurant’s mistake. It was beginning to feel more like a food court than one of Dubai’s so called 'top restaurants'. We were eventually served our third choice. The food was nice…no complaints but we all agreed nothing spectacular. At one point, a different waiter went to take a wine glass which clearly wasn’t finished and again was rude and unapologetic.
The final insult came in the form of the bill when we were charged 350 dirhams extra for the two sea bass dishes which we never even had. In keeping with the theme of the night, the bill was grabbed back minus an apology, and readjusted. We all agreed that it was the worst service we had encountered in many nights out in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Needless to say we will not be returning.

We went to La Petite Maison last night,.
The service? It could be adjusted slightly:
• being reminded 4 times that we had to leave our table after 2hrs became exasperating
• not being informed of the day ‘specials was disappointing
• begging for more bread while looking at an empty glass of wine which desperately needed refilling was regrettable.
but no massive issues there....

The concept?
I love the idea of sharing as this is what we tend to do when we go out, but please could we have a new plate and set of cutlery for each dish so the octopus carpaccio doesn't get mixed with the vinaigrette of the bean and foie gras salad?

The atmosphere?
Chic and sophisticated yet a little bit on the ‘m’as-tu vu’ side (read we love to see and to be seen). But let’s hope this wears off with time.

The price?
Not cheap but fair for what you get.

The food?
This was the highlight. It was amazing. The menu is a delight in itself. Not only everything looks and sounds delicious, but it tastes incredibly good. Each mouth full is a delight. Top class gastronomy.

Overall: a place to save for those special occasions - or not if you have the budget. Simply enjoy the food as this is what you should be there for!!
