The venue resembles a French wine cellar with its cavernous feel, roughly plastered walls, upturned wooden barrels and chalkboard wine and food lists. The wines arrive with their very own tasting tags, which offer notes on the winery, the grape, the vintage and a guide to tasting – the 2005 Esser Cabernet Sauvignon is indeed a deep red drop of plonk with rich cherry and blackberry aromas and a soft texture.

But what sets Oscar’s apart from established Dubai wine bars such as The Agency or Vintage is its authentic bill of fare, which features oysters, cheese, cold cuts, and a truly splendid black pudding with roasted apples and mashed potatoes that will have confirmed Francophiles gleefully humming the Marseillaise between mouthfuls.

Whoever Oscar is, he can boast an excellent selection of wine and French bar food, not to mention all the genial bonhomie that makes this unpretentious, cosy and bijoux wine bar a winner.

Oscar’s Vine Society, Crowne Plaza Hotel Dubai (04 331 1111). Open 6pm-2am daily. All major credit cards accepted. Average price of a meal for two with a glass of house wine Dhs200-300.

Fantastic wine bar. For one evening you feel like you are somewhere in Europe. Great place even for non wine experts. Great littel descriptions on what flavors you can taste :)

Oscar's should get a Resteraunt 'OSCAR.

I think it is one of the trendiest places I have been to here in Dubai. The people there are just great, I knew only little about wines befor I started going there but now....., well THEY made me an expert: Teaching me flavours , grapes , Vinyards and all that stuff. Now I show off when I am having a wine with friends, and it works.
Besides that you should try the chese ther -formidable-

Over it is just the greates bar in Dubai....!

Great spot for wine lovers after grinding through the joys and tribulations of a working day in Dubai.
Knowledgeable and very friendly staff, excellent tidbits of food.
if you want to drink quality wine that is worth what you are paying rather than having to settle for the house wine (at similar prices) this place is your best bet.

I think Oscars is definetely one of a kind in Dubai. It has very knowledgeable staff who is always ready to recommend the best wine matches depending on the "mood" you are in and what food you are having.
The clientele is very friendly and unpretentious, making this bar a very comfortable and relaxed place to go have a drink and unwind after a hard day at work!
