From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011

For a taste of the seaside on JBR’s The Walk you have only to dive down between the Murjan and Bahar sections of the mammoth housing development to find the closest thing you’re going to get to good ol’ fashioned fish and chips in Dubai. The chips are pleasing chunky and a choice of cod, hammour (and other probably not sustainable options) are up for battering. As are ridiculously-sized lumps of chicken (into nuggets), squid, sausages (not pork, sadly) and for the Scottish, a Mars Bar.

For those that want to eschew batter for pastry, the standard (sub-standard) pies are also on offer. Make no mistake, although this is a restaurant and people do eat in, you’re better off grabbing the boxes and heading down to the beach to polish off your pile of salty, vinegary chips. Having cornered the market for this type of food in the Marina, the Fish and Chip room also delivers and is open until 4am, when you’re probably likely to find many of your Marina neighbours soaking up the evening’s drink with some carbs before bed.

Terrible food! Dont recommend at all!
Had bought Groupon vouchers and upon visiting was informed they had a 'special menu' for these vouchers. The food on the menu was terrible and didnt have any chips or drinks with the meal. the service was even worse, when i called the manager to complain he had no manners and kept trying to make it seem like it was my fault. I ordered the Goujons which were terrible! they were oily and tasteless. never been so disappointed. There were flies all over the sofas! stay away!

Poor Job TimeOut!!! - Extremely Inaccurate Review...Fire the critic!!!

Absolutely a waste of time and money. Should have avoided the place once I saw the shawarma through the window.

The fish was tasteless and dredged in oil. The cod had an awkward taste and was chewy (how can fish be chewy) be the judge for yourself. Fries were sitting on the counter pre-fried god knows how long before they served it to the customers. Lemons were so old and spoiled we brown in colour and tasted bad.

Honestly I am contemplating to force myself to vomit to remove this junk from inside me, mind you I only ate less than half of the plate.

Any individual that passes this "food" as palatable definitely either has never eaten normal food before and is used to this kind of trash or has an extremely obscured and poor judgement of what food should be like.

We are all fools for tolerating stores like this by staying in business to feed us their trash. Hope they go out of business soon because they definitely deserve to.

In a word ... HORRIBLE. Filthy, stinky, greasy - and that was just the decor, never mind the food! Staff have absolutely no concept of basic hygiene. Chips looked and tasted like yesterday's refried leftovers. Scampi? No, tiny prawns overcooked to an inedible burnt mess. Ugh, never again.

In a nutshell food was terrible, ordered delivery from here twice took 2 hrs to deliver, food was cold and soggy. Waste of time there are much better places serving fish and chips, also that do not take all night to deliver.

Have been here twice, both times the fish was oily but palatable, while the chips were oily as well but good. The whole place though was filthy and dirty the last time we visited with smudged floors and flies all over the place. We didnt feel like eating here simply because of the dirty interior

I have eaten here a few times with varied results. As a rule I have the Haddock and Chips and it's about the Haddock for me which is as well because the chips are never better than average. When it first opened it was staffed by people from the UK (Glasgow) and the product was fine. Since then it seems the staff are all trained and sourced here and the results are truly horrible. To think that the fish I had last week had been transported 3000+ miles to be so horrible ruined is just sickening and I will now never ever go back. If I still lived in JBR I'd have taken it back on the night but as it is I have moved further away so didn't and have to content myself with writing this.
Do yourselves a favour and pass this one by until you see a sign in the window telling all that the UK cooks are back and the ones there last week have been dropped off the back of a boat in Sharm al Sheikh.

food was far too greasy. the chips.. inedible...worst chips ever! the fried mushrooms were good though
If you insist on going... at least go when the weather is cool so you can sit outside. Its extremely hot inside from the heat of the open kitchen.

We had cod and chips, curry sauce, gravy, mushy peas and bread and butter. Excelllent food just like being back in the north of England. We travelled from Abu Dhabi and will pop in again when we visit one of the malls in Dubai.

Well worth a visit.

Went in there with the family. everything was first class, except for the decor but tthe food is the most important. cod was slightly expensive but understandable due to getting it out here! batter light and crisp, chips were propa chippy chips not french fries. staff were informative. even had a scottish bloke serving us which is a first for me and ive bin in dubai for 10 yrs now. will go back again!!

Never ever EVER be tempted to eat here. A fish and chip shop that can't produce edible chips is just a complete waste of time and money. I have (stupidly) eaten here on at least 4 occasions now and each time I've been introduced to a world of queasy disappointment. Where to start: Flies. If you like flies, you'll like the interior of the Fish & Chip Shop, because at any one time there are 50+ all ready and eager to land on your food or your face. The wait. Go to any fish and chip shop in the UK and chances are, they'll have chips ready to go. You might have to wait 2 minutes for the fish to warm up, but you'll be out of the door sooner rather than later. Not here. Here, you're looking at 10 minutes minimum, more like 15 and it's truly not worth waiting 10 seconds. The food. The chips, oh what meagre, tasteless soggy apparitions they are. Taste the chips here and you'll know what apathy tastes like. No crispness, no flavour, no nothing. Oh and even though you've waited 15 minutes, they're still not cooked properly on the inside. Yay. I had Red Snapper that was supposed to come with some kind of sauce. The sauce has congealed into a crusty mess on the side of the plate and tasted like a homeless man's trousers. So say the fish was rubbery is a bit like saying Madonna's getting on a bit. My girlfriend had a battered sausage. How we laughed. It's all we could do really, we certainly couldn't eat the thing. Enter at your own peril boys and girls.
