From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
Every time you walk past this venue, the restaurant seems to be packed with Russians, meaning it must be a good option for Russian fare. Decorated with memorabilia from the country (including a huge freestanding bear), Suvoroff has a very kitsch feel to it. The menu is extensive, stuffed with all the classics such as stroganoff, blinis and borsch, but can be quite hit and miss. The Golubtsy (minced veal wrapped in cabbage) tasted homely and is extremely comforting; whereas the roast duck with stewed apples is so tough it very nearly ended up on the nearby couple’s plate on one of our visits.
They also have a take-away menu, and for some odd reason this is more extensive than if you decide to dine in. The staff don’t speak a word of English, meaning if you are unfamiliar with Russian food, it is can be very hard to understand exactly what some dishes consist of, so you might need to be a little adventurous. Or find a Russian speaking friend to translate.
