One of the many restaurants by Festival City’s canal walk, Scoozi sets itself apart by being unexpectedly unique. You’d think, from the name and indoor décor, that this restaurant serves up pastas, pizzas and other Italian fare…it does, along with sushi. Interesting. Food-wise, the Italian trumps but the Japanese isn’t bad either. Orders of California maki and chicken yakitori are good, at best. The bruschetta is nothing to write home about, the the complimentary bread with olive spread is actually better, but the spaghetti diavola – spaghetti in tomato sauce with shrimps lightened the mood. The portions are satisfyingly large too. There’s a good range of desserts to choose from and the torta mella (hot caramelised apple) is the star of the night. Almost like a mini apple pie, it isn’t too sweet, the apple is soft and mushy and you can taste cinnamon and caramel in it. Delicious. While the food is hit and miss and the service isn’t stellar, its location by the canal, menu variety and overall vibe means Scoozi just about delivers.
