From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
Shu is all about the interior design: even from the hip beige and brown building it’s obvious the inside is going to be something extraordinary. Bookcases line the walls, funky-shaped furniture abounds and the music is continually cool. And the food? The menu is worryingly eclectic, spanning everything from Italian to Arabic, via sushi and Thai. Fortunately, they seem to pull it off, with diners returning again and again for the cheese manakish (and their spag' bol'). Service is slow, and the crowd Arabic – whom mainly rock up for shisha, tea and computer games, rather than fine dining. Another entertaining factor? The many Ferraris and Lamborghinis that drive up to the gates, where the trusty valet is happy to take the keys and park up round the corner. Tip: go later to experience Dubai’s buzzing non-drinking set.
