From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011

Indian fast food is not your regular burger and fries. Travel to Mumbai and chaat stands selling pav bhaji, samosas, vada pav and other savoury snacks are a common sight. While it’s not quite the same experience in Dubai, Bombay Chowpatty in the heart of Karama is as close as it gets. It’s always packed in the evenings, usually with people from the Subcontinent (always a good sign of authenticity) catching up with friends over a cup of hot masala chai or ordering from the snack counter. Try the ‘vegetable frankies’ – mashed veggie cutlets wrapped in thin roti with spicy chutneys and sliced onions generously drizzled on. It’s filling enough and very spicy, but the dahi batata puri – a concoction of deep-fried bread mixed in with chutneys and yoghurt – easier on the tongue. The classic bhel puri is a the standout though, with just the right combination of puffed rice, vegetables and chutney. There’s a reason why Bombay Chowpatty is always busy, and it’s not just because of their extremely reasonable prices.

I went to the Bombay chowpati restaurant in Deira city center and had the worst experience of a meal ever.. I ordered the haryali tikka and my wife ordered the chicken tikka , both of which were very dry tasteless it must have been cooked atleast 2 hours back,,,, The manager there was the worst i have ever seen he had no sense of hospitality ,, he said that we could complain to the branch in karama and he didnt care.. One thing for sure i am never visiting this place again...and i would advice all of you the same.....

I will be honest with my review.........I had a horrible experience having pav bhaji here.
It was like having a mix of some Chinese dish and Bengali dish!
It was uneatable and the brand name of Bombay Chowpatty is being spoiled as the real pav bhaji in India is a million times better than this one.
The owner or who ever responsible should take a trip to the Chowpatty in Mumbai and hire cooks from there because these cooks here don't know what they are cooking I'm sure about that!
A real bummer for a first timer who is writing this review after like 5 hrs of the horrible experience but still has the bad food undigested in his tummy -_-
So to the Public from Mumbai don't expect anything like you have had over there!!

Its a brilliant place to eat if you're looking for some FAST Indian food. It's all vegetarian, but don't be fooled, there's plenty of variety. I'm a regular to this restaurant, and I still haven't sampled all the dishes. Probably because I'm still hooked on the Pav Bhaji!

visited yesterday after reading about it on here. Location on road just before Trade Centre road . You have to purhcase tokens ; take them to respective counter and then find table to eat it - They call it self service. Food good and tasty and you can ask cook to make it less hot etc . Prices average around 6AED per plate , would need atleast one each for a main meal . We ordered 4 different ones so we could all share - also had fresh melon juice which was good . Variety of deserts which we did not try but will be visiting again as it was so good!
