The Zen Restaurant
Glass house restaurant at Zaabeel Park serves south east Asian food 5 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
Primarily south east Asian, this glass house restaurant at Zaabeel Park also, strangely, serves a variety of Indian dishes. Service is a bit of mess to be honest; not only are some of the waiters downright rude but also incredibly slow. The barbecue chicken skewers with spicy sauce for starters are average at best, with the meat undercooked. The Thai chicken green curry is worse and tastes so diluted and devoid of flavour that it may as well be stock with a hint of curry seasoning. We'd also stay well away from the ‘Zen special fried rice’ – a strange preparation with a little too much soy sauce and an unpleasant aftertaste.
The crunchy beef is definitely crunchy, just not very tasty. For about the same price, you can have a much better experience at Lemongrass for Thai or Gazebo for Indian. If you find yourself absolutely starved in the park, by all means, eat here – it’s quite nice to dine by the lake – but you’re better off just hopping in a taxi and going to a Karama gem. Your stomach and tastebuds will thank you for it.
