Indian mall food is a difficult thing to get right. It’s got to be quick and easy but also tasty and filling, without being loaded with oil. OK so mall food is more about satisfying hunger, than astounding the tastebuds but it’s still possible to be disappointed. Indian Pavilion is one of a strip of restaurants, but once you’re sat down you’re far enough away from the main mall drag for it to be a little quieter. Indian Pavilion’s menu sticks to the curry basics, more likely catering for those who haven’t grown up with this food, so you’ll find masala favourites, butter chicken and jalfrezi but not much interesting deviation.
There’s a healthy amount of veggie options but all curries come as platters, and along with rice you also get salad and for some reason, potato wedges. Although the food is piping hot, it’s also been reheated to within an inch of its life. Service is fast and efficient and it’s not going to dent your pocket much, for curry in a hurry this will take some beating. But with a little more time and effort there are much better places to hit for an Indian fix.
