Chinese Treasure
Pleasurable Chinese food at Al Nasr Leisureland 8 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
If you love nostalgia, head on over to Chinese Treasure at Al Nasr Leisureland. Back in the day, it probably was a jewel but now it’s living on faded glory. The decor screams ‘China’ from the big porcelain figures to red lanterns hanging from the ceiling, but it all has a disappointingly dated feel. A few tables were occupied when we visited on a regular week-night but it was in no way heaving, and we hoped that that fact didn’t necessarily reflect on the quality of food. We were wrong.
While in no way bad, the ‘Chinese Treasure’ chicken did little to inspire with its tomato-ey gravy, while the Szechuan crispy lamb tasted suspiciously like beef – despite our server’s insistence that we were mistaken (when the bill came it said beef). The chicken dim sum were better and we liked the variety of drinks and desserts on offer, but with so many good Chinese restaurants around town, we’re afraid it just doesn’t stand out. We did, however, enjoy reading the menu that explains Chinese birth signs.
