Dynasty

Affordable taste of the Orient in Bur Dubai Discuss this article

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

Don’t be deterred by the name; this Ramada restaurant manages to avoid any link to the shoulder pads and big hair of dubious 80s soap operas. Rather, Dynasty is a warm and attractive hideaway serving up some surprisingly good Chinese fare. Take the edge off your appetite with a bowl of wonton soup, packed full of plump prawns, before moving onto mains.

Diners can choose from a long list of familiar dishes, but the stir-fried chicken manchurian is especially good, as is the shredded beef in schezuan sauce. The latter is a relatively unspicy character, given that China’s Schezuan province is known for its fiery food – but it manages to hold enough flavour to make scraping the bowl a necessity.

Plentiful portions make it a challenge to leave this dining establishment hungry. Do try and save room though for the lychees and vanilla ice-cream, for a simple yet refreshing conclusion.

Expect to be served by affable staff who are happy to advise on the menu. All told, for an affordable taste of the Orient in an unpretentious setting, Dynasty hits the spot.
