Ronda Locatelli
A family-friendly Italian under celeb chef Giorgio Locatelli’s remit 29 Reviews

As a chef, UK-based, northern-Italian born Giorgio Locatelli stands for creative Italian food that’s respectful of Italy’s gastronomic history and aims to comfort, welcome and warm. We love what he stands for and so want to love his Dubai-based project Ronda Locatelli, but they make it very hard for us to do so. Service is cheesy (non-Italians should just speak in English) and the food is just passable, completely unexciting and cooked with no care. Dishes such as the jumbo prawns turned up on the table without ‘veins’, pizzas, while perfectly cooked, had an unpleasantly acidic bite due to a badly cooked tomato base and pastas (like the recommended tagliatelle with beef ragu) tasted like something you’d cook in second-year university. That said, the prices are very reasonable (Dhs350 will fill you up) and the restaurant welcomes families with open arms (even the chefs make an effort with sprogs, showing them how to throw pizza dough. So, if it’s your kids you need to keep happy tonight, book at Locatelli; if it’s your palette, look elsewhere.
