Legends’ DIY barbecue

Guests can prepare their own dishes at the individual grilling tables, or let the chefs do the cooking for them. Dhs155 (food only) Timings: 7pm-11.30pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

Friday brunch

Legends steakhouse offers all-you-can-eat salads, starters and desserts, and a choice of mains from the à la carte menu. Dhs235 (food only), Dhs370 (softdrinks), Dhs495 (premium bubbly), free for children under 12 Timings: Noon-3.30pm (Friday)

Renovated in early 2012, Legends’ sloping, canopy ceiling now houses a sleek dark-wood interior, glinting tableware and elevated booths for extra privacy. There’s also an extensive outdoor deck, with great views of the golf course. Starters are fun an innovative, featuring bite-size dishes such as scotched quail egg, dates and foie gras, and blue-cheese spring roll. Tenderloin steak is served in a flurry of showmanship – flambéed at the table, no less – while the rib-eye is juicy and tender. Desserts are limited to light refreshing sorbet and ice cream, which are followed by espresso and a selection of complimentary gourmet chocolates. A welcome addition to Dubai’s already saturated steakhouse scene.

This is my second visit to Legends as our evening meal was so good we had to try the brunch, which did not disappoint. We had a superb afternoon with spectacular food, quality drinks and great views. The variety of food was spot on, where our whole group felt their unique tastes were adequately satisfied and the staff could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend giving it a try and we will go back again soon.

What a difference two years makes! My return to Legends after a long absence was superb. The restaurant has been overhauled to a very high standard, it is classy but has a very warm comfortable feel. Floor to (very high) ceilinged windows make for great views on both sides of the restaurant, as the previous drapes have been removed. In good weather having the possibility to open the whole side of the restaurant onto the terrace will be spectacular. It is run by an attentive and friendly French manager, and the staff are certainly capable and well-trained. Another recent Legends restaurant manager (also French, ex manager at Le Classique) is still there in a higher management position, and the influence of these two ladies has clearly improved standards significantly. To the food: a seafood chowder was elegantly presented but also filling, and was extremely good, my ribeye was the cheapest steak choice on the menu (organic-fed and Wagyu are available) but the taste and texture were just superb (and I do eat all price ranges, at JW Steakhouse, Rib Room, Manhattan Grill, etc. regularly, so I can comment). The menu is compact but good; as well as regular-size starters, the choice of three mini-starters from a large range is an excellent modern touch. The wine list has a large inexpensive selection. It’s a shame that the piano player has gone, and the music playing was a bland Buddha Bar type which sounded the same when we left as when we entered, but I was assured that that playlist would be discontinued. The place seems currently underused, discover it now. The entrance to the Creek Golf and Yacht Club is right next to the end of the floating bridge, so no scary trips into darkest Deira are needed, for any wilting Jumeirah violets!

If you are a true steak connoisseur then this is without doubt the best steak in Dubai bar none, no one else even comes close. To top it all the service is impeccable with knowledgeable well spoken and friendly staff plus of course its famous setting on the creek golf course next to the creek. Plus going here you won't break the bank and a free bottle of champagne for every 1000 Dhs spent ensures you will be back again and again !
