Even in Dubai’s competitive steakhouse scene, The Grand Grill continues to lure plenty of carnivores. Why? We suspect many are tempted by the restaurant’s Tuesday-night ribs and chicken deal (all you can eat for Dhs95), or the promise of reasonably priced, tasty food. Steakhouses tend to appeal to men, and if you can brave the testosterone, there’s plenty to like here: traditional cuts of meat, carefully cooked and served with variety of sides, plus a scattering of South African specialities. Service is friendly and well-meaning, if a little stilted, and prices are reasonable. Yet the main selling point here is the lively atmosphere. Even on week nights, this place still draws a crowd, cementing its status as one of the most popular steakhouses in the city.

This Steakhouse impressed us. We were a group of 6 & decided to go there on Wednesday night for a Good Steak. From the time we arrived until we left we had smiles all night long. The service from our waiter Daniel was out standing, The Argentinian ribeye was mouth watering. The waiter suggested sides, first time I heard about it called Isidudu, pumpkin mixed with corn mash. Good choice. My friends had Fillet, fish & one other had chicken. All I want to say is, you'll see us back & welldone.

I am from Alberta, Canada, land of the steak. This has to be the worst steak I have ever had in my lifetime! It would be akin to a TGIF steak, probably worse. The first time my husband and I went there 1.5 years ago it was good enough to go back, unfortunately the second time was a huge fail. The steak was tough, tasteless and impossible to cut even with a steak knife. I had the surf and turf and even the prawn tasted old as if it has been in the freezer for months. The sauce sprinkled on top was an after thought, as if they barely had any left and just nuked it in the microwave. I am only mad that I didn't demand to speak with the chef or manager and returned both mine and my husband's steak. Unfortunately my husband had to frequent this restaurant 2 more times for business and each time all guests were disappointed. Considering the price of the meal, what a huge shame. If you want value, you are better off to go to any steakhouse in Dubai save for this restaurant.

Went there as all three of us wanted a quality burger. Our waiter was exemplary and quite unique for Dubai. Only ordered 3 cheeseburgers so can't comment on anything else. Sadly...stale bun, processed cheese, onion rings that were not rings but merely fried leftover shavings! Meat was excellent though. When we protested to manager on duty his reply was that we were entitled to our opinion! (many thanks). For a premium restaurant a burger should be near to perfection. Alas not the case and frankly sad. # cheeseburgers+beers=AED600!

We have been to the Grand Grill for a dinner date and for the Friday brunch. The service was excellent on both occasions. The steak however was far better when ordered for dinner rather than at the brunch. Both times we had the rib-eye. It was excellent for dinner, a nice thick cut trimmed of excess fat. For the brunch the cut was too thin and fatty and not cooked to order. The drinks and sides at the brunch are good, particularly the fruit skewers. When ordering for dinner be sure to get ample side dishes, we only ordered 2 and would have liked a third. We definitely plan to return again but for dinner rather than the brunch. We want to try the steaks from different countries (we had Australian beef).

Service provided was very good and friendly. Starters (especially the zulu prawns)could do much better but steaks were cooked as requested by each of us and were tasty and juicy A very pleasant evening highlighted by the b'day singing to various tables as at least four people choose to celebrate there their b'day and i can understand why !! Will go back again soon with our kids.

It's so nice to be back to the Grand Grill & to be recognised by the staff. The meat done to perfection and the staff so friendly and helpful. The ambience outside was so great with the lighting & the new wooden furniture. It always feels like home when you go to the Grand Grill. Truly the best South African Steakhouse in the UAE.

We went to the Friday brunch but as a late booking was only offered the private room - WOW! there was 6 of us in a 12 seater room that offered privacy but also easy access to everything. On arrival we was met by Brian our waiter who swiflty seated us all and explained how everything worked and brought a wide range of drinks straight away. The food was sublime, with the small buffet element offering the normal choices of meats, kebabs, salads etc. The nice part was the steaks and ribs are delivered to your table and cooked to your choice. The ribs just melted in your mouth and the rib eye and sirloin steaks were just to die for and all served with chunky chips. A few of us also had a second steak later in the afternoon and again recieved a delicous steak.
The service was excellent and we never once had to chase the waiter for anything with all drinks well topped up. The atmosphere was great and all staff were very accommodating with all our needs.
We paid for the brunch halfway through the afternoon to beat the queing at the end and was not neglected after this either. This was an excellent day out with great value for money(295Dhs).

South African themed menu and decor, with quick and efficient service. The wood paneling adds to the atmosphere. One side of the wall and the pillars in the centre of the restaurant turned into wine holders.
Came for the Tuesday’s chicken and ribs night. The place was bursting with diners. To start with, you could choose either a full chicken or a full set rack of lambs or take ½ of each. I went for the half option. It was an unlimited offer for Dhs 95. Also served was a bowlful of warm mashed potato. A glass of Cabernet Savignon (Dhs 35) accompanied the meal.

Went there last week with a group, Had the best selection of food, the meat was yummy, Service with energy from the waiters. We'll be back agian. Truely a GREAT Steakhouse.

I've been there on Tuesday, promotion of Ribs and Chicken all you can eat, Meat was very nice and tender, nice taste, big portions, side dish as well. Kindly service, Waiters very efficent even was very busy. But they dont advise the promotion at all, they push for a la carte only.
Nice atmosphere, lot of groups (lot of noise too), is not a romantic grill for couples, Good for whos have birthday or party dinner.
Sorry but the show kitchen looks nasty!
Good prices. Friendly place.

My husband and I had an extremely disappointing experience, I’m afraid. We went for brunch here yesterday and it was actually the worst dining experience I’ve had in Dubai – and I’m including restaurants at all levels. The cuts of meat were just nasty and full of gristle; the unbelievably meagre selection of hot side dishes at the ‘buffet’ weren’t even luke warm; and for dessert they offered either fruit salad or ice cream. We searched around the restaurant a couple of times and had to confirm with staff because we were so amazed at the tiny selection of buffet items (I think there were 12 in total – not including dessert). I’m sorry but that cost us AED 225 without alcohol – where did the money go? I absolutely won’t go back – I really think the management desperately needs to review this if they want customers to return.

This restaurant & certain dishes were enthusiastically recommended to my wife & I. In anticipation of a culinary delight we dined at The Grand Grill on Friday, however I'm disappointed to comment that the restaurant & food failed to deliver..!!
Firstly, the service was poor & uninspired. No mention of the day's specials or that no lamb was on the menu until we were ready to order the recommended lamb cutlets. Even our choice of SA plonk was unavailable when ordered. Our waiter did offer an alternative wine, higher in price, which was rejected. I did suggest that with no lamb & on preferred choice of wine, the restaurant, as a gesture of goodwill, offer the more expensive wine at the price of the bottle I originally asked for..?? No sir..!!
Steaks were ordered & promptly served, but were tasteless & bland. The side orders were drab too.
Whilst the decor is warm, there is little atmosphere in the place, waiters appear harrassed & quite why our waiter blatantly lied about heralding from SA, when clealry he didn't (Jo'burg isn't on the east coast) still puzzles me..??. I came away with the impression that the restauarant couldn't have cared less about my custom. Oh, the final irony..?? The wine I ordered was freely available too..!!

Loved the atmosphere of this place, like being at a BBQ where drinks and meat are on tap. We were so well looked after and really liked the music and South African style entertainment. Not sure where the great dessert table was that someone mentioned, some kind of sponge or ice cream only available on our viist. But it didn't really matter as everything else was great.

great atmosphere , well trained and friendly staff thumbs up to the managemant and the team .

service wise we were treated as we expected , dishes were served at the right time and to our suprise the calm waiter kept us entertained while remembering who ordered what out of nine people with no doubt, honestly it is one of the places that you look foward to take family , friends and business people to enjoy good steaks and service .l

I've never been to a Restaurant with some much energy, viby & enthusiastic staff. We are there twice a month enjoying the food, great DJ, with a mix of oldies music which I have not found anywhere in Dubai.

Value for money. The only place in Dubai, where there's a vibe & they braai the South African way. The DJ makes the people rock with the oldies music. We Love going to the Grand Grill.

All that I want to say, Your FOOD, SERVICE & AFTER SALES is GREAT. Your staff are very friendly, smiling & always willing to help. The portions are BIG & we Love comming there, especially when I order that Ribeye with that homemade mash.

I am not a big fan of restaurants, but this is one place that feels like home. I cannot stress how much the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The management is stunning as well; the manager comes to our table every time to make sure we are having a good time. One place I truly love and will frequent on an ongoing bases. Well done GG…you are second to none…keep it that way!

This restuarant has really impressed us each time we go there They never dissapoint. The food is fantastic and we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The selection is great and the steaks are wonderful. Great ambience and service. Truely a great South African Steakhouse restuarant.
