Since opening in October 2010, West 14th has built up quite a following among trendy Palm-dwellers. First impressions aren’t great: at the time of writing the Oceana complex was still being completed, meaning the entrance to West 14th was via a rather sweaty underground car park. Luckily the restaurant itself is far more slick, boasting a chic red and dark wood interior. Steak-wise, the menu is succinct, with USDA Black Angus and Aussie varieties alongside some seafood and chicken; the lack of top-end wagyu cuts may prove disappointing for steak connoisseurs, but at least it keeps things affordable. The biggest downside here is the service: while staff are polite, service can be faltering.
