This rustic restaurant in Oasis Beach Tower attracts plenty of holidaymakers as well as locals wanting to catch the latest football (the bar has a number of TV screens dedicated to Premier League coverage). However, head into the belly of the restaurant and lose yourself amid the Mediterranean-inspired quaint decor and generously sized menu and you’re in for a filling and affordable meal. All dishes are well made, though we would advise you steer clear of the pizza, which can be a tad dry. However, Thyme is a sure bet for a decent fill and a good atmosphere on a week night.

Having dined at Thyme numerous times I am quite astonished about the variety of reviews given so far.
We have had romantic dinners, dinners with friends and also celebrated a birthday with about 20 p. for which we had reserved the corner on the right side in the back.
Service was excellent and attentive, I'm always amazed about the well trained staff (though reservations sometimes got lost). Food - excellent, I'd discribe it as real Mediterranian, a mixture of Prevance (south France), Spanish and novell Italian cuisine (not US mediterrainian). Given that it IS located in a good hotel and licensed I definitely don't find it expensive - compared to other restaurants in similar settings. At the Butcher shop the final bill hurts more for the amount consumed - and had no wine with the food! I guess it's all a question of perspective.

Ambience is like a mediterranian back yard or Spanish cellar restaurant, maybe mixed with a little bit French brasserie, easy, lovely. The only sad thing is that they have no outside seating (and maybe that smoking is allowed in the bar). Sometimes it is a bit noisy when it is very full.
Otherwise it is one of the still 'normal' easy going restaurants - just what is rare in Dubai - not too expensive, quite well in the middle.

I believe that some people have not understood the concept of the food - it is a bit like tapas in Spain - you order a few, put them on the table and 'share' all of them. I love this concept, the portions are not too big so you can have quite a nice selection (though we still usually order too much;) - and usually the waiters recommend what goes good to gether if you can't decide. The menue is nice, not too long but I have to agree for repeated guests some variety would be nice - though I already missed a few items (like the scallop risotto, which was a huge portion we could never finish among 2) when they changed the menue. Everything very tasty and mouth watering.

All in all I have to say that in my opinion the restaurant is highly underrated - I love it the way it is and maybe I love it the better as it is not so very crowded during the week. But it were too sad if they had to close down because some people can't honour a nice friendly easy setting.

An extremely mediocre brunch. Pleasant enough rustic decor and friendly staff. However, poor selection of food for Dh140. A rather expensive extra Dh140 for the package of very standard drinks.

The previous week we had been to Ibn Battuta Gate for about the same price but with 10 times the selection. Ok, they have economies of scale which Thyme, with far fewer tables, will never achieve, but for the price I would expect something a bit more impressive. Perhaps knock Dh40 off both the food and drink packages and it would be more bearable.

The food was really bad, I couldnt eat most of it. I had the carvery, a tiny piece of meat, fried cauliflower,fried potatoes (not roast), fried egg plant, all swimming in grease and over cooked. My husband had the fish, he said it was tasteless and my son had the rbs which was the only thing that looked and tasted ok, but the he only got three ribs when they said a rack. It was very expensive we paid nearly £100 for the three of us, and that only included 2 beers and a coke, no desserts we didnt dare order any.

Thyme is definitely my favorite restaurant in Dubai!
It's a place to enjoy and feel home! The service personal is very friendly and helpful and the food is mouthwatering. Love the large variety of the salads, the carving station and the delicious deserts.
I can only recommend the Friday Brunch...

I have to give the manager credit for being completely unaware that TimeOut has listed a Tuesday nite Ladies nite of free champagne and at least offered to give me a glass of sangria. Must say, someone better start communicating a little better. I wasn't the only one who turned up for Ladies nite and told they didn't have one. Thanks to the manager for being cordial about it all. I would go back just because they were nice enough... But i'd be more likely to if they had the champagne on offer. We ended up walking down to Rosso's at Rotana for their generous offerings to the girls!

What a bizarre restaurant. I use the word restaurant loosely. It's like dining in a corridor. The decor is lovely, rustic and warm. The food was pleasant. The staff were lovely. BUT, but, but, it wasn't what I would call a restaurant. My husband and I tried hard to work out what the problem was. I said it was like eating in a garden centre cafe. He said that it was like eating in the middle of a car park. Either way, having read the reviews before hand I was unpleasantly surprised by the complete lack of ambience. It would have been fine for a quick bite to eat for lunch, if you lived nearby, but for evening dinner I would definitely NOT go back. Sorry, Thyme!

A group of us went for the "ladies night" specials, hoping to have a relaxed drink and to catch up. This was by far the worst service I've experienced in Dubai. The waiters seemed to be under strict orders to polish glasses instead of taking our food order (even when we went to the bar!). We had to practically tackle a waiter to get him to bring us a bottle of water - very strange given that the retaurant was all but empty.

When the food arrived an hour later it was bland and uninspired.
The "drink specials" were a flagrant rip off - it took two hours to get one glass of sangria.
This one is best for avoiding.

Been to Thyme, time after time. Sometimes for a meal, or sometimes just for a drink. Excellent value, excellent service and great food - only critism is the menu is a bit lacking in choice.

Finally a lovely licenced restaurant on our door step in JBR! Lovely warm and rustic vibe, great service, and the banquet shared between 4 people was heavenly! good value as well with reasonably priced meals and wine. Will definately return and jebel ail club membership discounts is a real bonus!

Great Restaurant especially now that it has a licence, a really great place to go for a relaxed dinner and a good bottle of wine! And the price was really good, a real gem!

I visited Thyme for Brunch yesterday with my wife & we both were struck by the refreshing atmosphere, in our experience it epitomises what could be improved upon in many of the over-priced restaurants in Dubai.
The decor was so refreshingly mediterranean;
The service was very attentive and courteous;
The ambience was great (helped by background music that was indeed in the "background"!
The food was very tasty, hot, in plentiful supply and varied, as good as and in many cases better than we've had in Dubai.
Needless to say that value for money is/was excellent.
We very much look forward to our next visit for evening dining.

Just got lucky since i have the good living voucher (gulf news) where i saw this restaurant. The cuisine and location makes me interested not to forget that i will be using my voucher as a discount.

It was dinner with my husband and 2 kids. We payed around Aed200 since we used the voucher. The food is little bit expensive but its worth it (try grills and steaks kids meal also available)..

The service is excellent (fast and friendly).

I will definitely go back!!!

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend and I agree, the decor is nice, it creates a lovely ambiance. The service was excellent, the waiters were lovely and very helpful. However, the value for money was not there. The food was delicious however the portion size was small or tiny.
For our mains we ordered the lamb and were given 4 pieces (the restaurant concept is to share.. share what? ie 4 bites of meat between two people). We ordered the duck, delicious but again, tiny portions to be shared. To combat our hunger we ended up ordering 3 starters.
We were not given vegetables or any side dishes with the main course - this is a restaurant for people on a diet.

Whilst i love and enjoy the 5* and ridiculously priced restaurants around Dubai - this is not one - and I have to say it is still one of my favourite.

The services is so friendly and warm and everyone has a smile on their face.
The menu is expansive but the food is simple and delicious. Especially the Arabic breads and dips to start – the dips are made fresh and are gorgeous! The brunch on a Friday is also very good value for money and features a pasta station where they cook fresh the ingredients you choose, this includes stir fries and Thai curries. A generous salad bar and other mains, soups and nibbles.

What’s more, if you join the Jebel Ali group membership scheme, you get 20% off return visits (50% up to 31st Jan and loads of other benefits). I’ll definitely be going back.
