Al Mallah
Diyafah Street stalwart and street food favourite 12 Reviews

Al Mallah has a reputation as one of the city’s best Arabic/Lebanese joints for good reason. Grab a table on the pavement to get a front row seat at the living theatre that is 2nd of December Street (formerly Diyafah Street), then go to town on the menu (hearty wraps start from just Dhs5, so you can dine like a king on a limited budget). For those eating on the run, opt for a chicken or lamb shawarma, so succulent and moreish it’s difficult to settle for just one. Otherwise, the mixed grill is a great place to start – a vast plate of griddled meats, including kofta, lamb and chicken, complete with fries, herby-tomato flatbread and grilled onion. Sides are fairly standard Arabic fare – fattoush salad, hummus, rocca salad – but don’t forget to wash it all down with a thirst-quenching, freshly squeezed fruit juice.
