Run passionately by Italian dame Nonna Livia, the restaurant’s food never fails to impress. When ordering, we recommend you chat to Nonna herself, who’s usually in the restaurant, as she’s always happy to point you to dishes that are at their seasonal peak. The veal loin wrapped in prosciutto is a triumph in taste and appearance that comes with a reduction of veal stock and pan juices that complement the porcini ragout perfectly. The oven-cooked pizzas are also worth a mention. The only complaint we have is that the restaurant can be a little quiet from time-to-time (although blissfully so at dinner, as no kids under 12 are allowed). Why this is, we don’t know, as Medzo is the most consistent Italian in town.

this is a TRULY italian eaterie, LOVE the lovely Nonna Livia, she's amazing!!
the menu is all prepared by her and she oversees all the tables and the orders.

the food was excellent, we really enjoied the scallops with polenta and the lovely tagliata di manzo.

the cappuccino suffle" was divine!

we were very lucky to have been followed so diligently by the lovely lady who even suggested a sublime wine

overall a perfect dinner

The 'best for' select option on this page does not offer 'fine food and a great restaurant experience' .... it should. We went as a group of 5. 4 more senior, and 1 in her early twenties. This was an exceptional evening. My wife and I spend quite a deal of time in Tuscany and often dine out across Italy. We were delighted, and Nonna is a gracious hostess. Understated - no rubbish glitz - but exceptionally good food, beautifully prepared and presented, and an excellent wine list. Be there, or you will have missed a truly fine dining experience !!!

The portions are excessively small and inadequate for main courses despite their good taste, the orange juice had gone extremely sour and was undrinkable. In addition the Italian custard was overcooked and scrambled so it tasted of egg yolk. For the money charged, the food is extremely average with no standout dishes but a few misses. xx

Worst Italian restaurant in Dubai.
We were too disappointed.

Appetizer - nothing special.
Pizza - the taste was fine but nothing special.
Pasta - Over cooked and no taste.
Main - better than the other foods.
Service - they don't know how to serve the wine. (Maybe during ramadan, I wish.)

I cannot understand why did they receive the prize the time out 2012.

By far the best Italian food in town!! the food is AMAZING!!! and Nonna Livia is so passionate about her food and it shows in the delicious menu, she also adds the special touch of coming to visit each table.

The ambiance and atmosphere is lovely and quaint. We will continue to come here as it never disappoints!! :)

Perfect I thought and representing some of the best food on offer in Dubai today. Unassuming, unlike 90% of the overrated eateries in this city. It does things simply, credibly and unbelievably well. I cannot fault the service, presentation or choice. The scallops and veal are exceptional.

Staff were unobtrusive, diligent and knowledgeable. No piano or the famous, Nonna but the terrace was very pleasant, spacious and in keeping with the whole brand offering.

Deserves every success

After living in Dubai for 10 years Medzo remains my favourite restaurant. Whether I'm dining with friends or having a romantic evening with my husband, the atmosphere is always perfect and the food is devine. The terrace during the cooler months is perfect too. Highly recommended.

I invited some friends to Medzo it was a nice expeirence everything was perfect except for the relatively loud piano well icouldnt ask the waiter to reduce the volume ... I wasnt alone

Nonna is a lovely hostess, she makes you feel right at home. The food was quite extraordinary and service, friendly and prompt. And with soft music playing though the grapevine (!) what more could one ask for in a romantic night out? Definitely recommended!

We are both italian descendents so we know what italian food is all about. And to be honest, this place is better than quite a few places that we tried in Italy itself. The food was perfect, very fresh, the wine was excellent and the ambience is gorgeuos. We are happy to have discovered such a cozy and beautiful place in Dubai.

their pizza and pasta are great.

Service is good, and speedy.

Great restaurant, the only thing it lacks is a little bit of life because at times the restaurant is too empty and quite.

Best food for an italian, my mouth is watering thinking about it... I just love the food and the menu. Livia is a great hostess with fantastic professional service which only adds to the place, the food is very good and I can truly order any dish from the menu and trust it will be good unlike other restaurants. The Mozzarella is the freshest I ve have in Dubai and the use the best ingredients you can tell this restaurants take pride in what they offer and order in for their menu. Always will go back to this place..

Had set lunch menu today with my Mum. It was a 3 course meal, inclusive of coffee and water for only 65aed. Both the food and service were exceptional. Would definitely recommend.

I took my girlfriend here for dinner based on the reviews that other people had put forward. I can honestly say that the food, ambience (the jazz pianist is brilliant), and the friendliness of the staff made the evening one to remember.

Genuine Italian sophistication and understated elegance. What a pleasant change from the over the top glitz we have come to accept in Dubai.

The food is superb. If Livia the manager is visiting the tables go with her recommendations. She will tell you what dishes have ingredients freshly arrived from Italy. A great spot for a sophisticated but relaxed dinner with a loved one or close friends. A haven for grown ups with no children under twelve allowed!

We love this place!

Since the refurbishment Medzo not only looks but is no doubt more spacious. The tables are well spaced so you don't feel neighbouring diners may unavoidably intrude on your conversation. The artichoke salad starter is sublime & the duck main course is excellent melt in the mouth quality. Still very much Italian fine dining which complements their policy of no children under 12
