Aprons & Hammers
Fresh and fun seafood experience in Dubai 22 Reviews
If there were ever a name that spells fun, it’s Aprons & Hammers – aprons mean mess, hammers mean noise. And if this doesn’t fill your fun quota, the restaurant is based on a boat (everybody loves boats). Inside, the fun continues. Plastic crabs and fishing nets adorn the log cabin-style walls, making for kitsch but cosy decor. Tables are laden with crab-crushing pliers and hammers, plus a club-like kitchen roll to mop up the mess (remember: mess is part of the fun).
Starters feature staples such as crab cakes and calamari, while mains include fish dishes as diverse as Keralan curry and fish burger. However, these are simply the supporting cast to the mussels, prawns, crabs and lobsters, served in medium or large buckets – the main event at Aprons & Hammers. Crab eating etiquette is administered by the friendly manager, and the novelty of cracking open the claws is half the fun – though not perhaps for the impatient eater. However, it’s worth going just for the jovial, laidback, often raucous atmosphere (but wary of slow service).
