Abshar
Quirky Iranian restaurant on Jumeirah Beach Road 10 Reviews

- Picture 1 of 2

From the outside, it would look no different from the spas, the furniture stores or the professional photography studios nearby, were it not for two outbuildings in the drive; one housing a quaint Iranian sweet shop, the other a sangak oven. Inside, Abshar doesn’t look much like a restaurant; it looks like a private home that has done away with its furniture in favour of tables and chairs and a handful of timid waiters. Dishes include the Abshar special salad (featuring hummus, tabbbouleh and mutabbal, plenty of complimentary latticed sangak, and mixed grill specialities featuring the usual suspects: chicken, minced lamb and whole lamb chunks. However, Abshar’s strength lies in the offerings of the small sweet shop at the gate, which is bursting with baklava, bamia, and qottab. Fans of Persian confectionary would do well ducking in for a closer look.
