Toscana

A family-friendly Italian that serves up hearty fare next to Madinat Jumeirah’s ‘creek Reviews

With an enviable position along the Madinat Jumeirah's creek, Toscana magically shape-shifts depending on the season: in the mild climes of winter it's a quiet, relaxing place to enjoy a perfectly passable carbonara and affordable(ish) Chianti, but in the heat of summer, it becomes a noisy, overlit food-hall, housing countless young families. The food is all perfectly passable – starters like carpaccio are delicious, the meat mains have proven successful and the pizzas are thin crust creations with good use of toppings. The classic pasta sauces are all well cooked, although on our last visit our vongole was desperately low on clams. So, despite being one of our favourite Italian options a few years ago, Toscana has now gone down the ranks and become a ‘when in the neighbourhood’ option.

The food was good not as what we expected, also the waiters and the service were really poor. We asked a waiter to take our order and he said for the other waiter then we waited for the other he sent another guy. I even asked for parmesan cheese he brought it before I finish the dinner!!!!!!
I expected to be better service becuz of the location

The place was almost full & we had to wait a good 40mins to get a table. The pasta & pizza we ordered were very very ordinary; not what I was expecting from a high end restaurant in Souk Madinat! Service was just ok; food arrived quite late and we waited even longer for the bill. Seeing the place packed, I was expecting much more than this.

Unacceptable service, loud atmosphere a conversation not possible, food very low quality (never knew that you can do so many things wrong with a green salad....) nothing positive to mention....

Had to wait for a long time to get a table..and the lady who was supposed to seat us was so rude. The waiter at my table was pretty good.got everything ordered but took time for food to be served. Their spaghetti and pizza was just amazing, pasta and ravioli not so much.
Would definitely go back just for the spaghetti n pizza.

I went there with my wife:
- No one welcomed us
- Both our plates were chipped. Bread basket was used on another table.
- Waiter did not ask if we wanted drinks. During our main course we had to ask
- "who gets what" on all courses and we were only 2 of us
- Waiter said "No Desserts" meaning if we wanted to order desserts.
- Manager or anyone never came to ask if everything was fine
- A/C duct is showing without cover & a part of the columns removed without being replaced or hidden
- No farewell.
The restaurant was around 50% occupied.
No Thank You We Will Not Come Back

Such a romantic setting spoilt by the slow service and dreadful food. Both my pizza and my girlfriends pasta contained several raw ingredients, but we both still ate some of them rather than complain as we were just happy to finally be served. One average bottle of wine, two starters and two mains and we parted with 550 dhs with only indigestion to look forward to. Would go back again only if all other restaurants worldwide simultaneously closed.
