Dante
A decent Tecom Italian with great antipasti, a live pianist and a cute terrace 3 Reviews

Naming a restaurant after Dante Alighieri, the 12th-century poet dubbed the 'father of the Italian language', is a confident move that builds expectations of culinary art. And while perfectly passable on all counts, Dante is lacking that certain allure that its namesake had in droves. The Renaissance-style decor is grandiose, as is the Italian pianist and singer. Onto the food: cold cuts like Carpaccio are seasoned perfectly, while Parma ham with melon and a sprinkling of pomegranate is simple and fresh. The pizza is decent but a little too crispy, while the best main we've tried is the lamb served on a bed of consistently creamy mash. Dante is competent yet contrived – the latter being the restaurant’s most discouraging facet.
