Positioned in the vast, jungle-like atrium of the Grand Hyatt hotel, The Market Cafe is set against large plants and a backing track of crashing water. The jungle setting is complemented by an eclectic selection of cuisines, from Asian to Italian, which can be ordered and paid for by means of a rather elaborate procedure (your orders are totted up on a plastic card which you hand over to receive your bill on the way out). But when it comes down to it, the offerings themselves taste rather decent, though we’d recommend sticking with the fresh salad bar and grilled fish.

I visited the Market Cafe at Grand Hyatt, Dubai, on Wednesday, 11th August, 2010, for the Sea Food Buffet, but it was not a good experience. I had made a reservation for the Sea Food Buffet prior to the visit and was particularly informed that the Sea Food Buffet would include the grilled Omani Lobster. The management running the Market Cafe ensured that the lobster would be part of the buffet. However, it was disappointing that on the day of the Buffet, the lobster was not there in the buffet menu. I felt that they had misrepresented at the time of the reservation. I had options for having Sea Food Buffet including lobsters at other places in Dubai but due to misrepresentation by Market Cafe at Grand Hyatt, Dubai, I could not avail those as my visit to Dubai was short. I would never recommend the Market Cafe at Grand Hyatt, Dubai, for the Sea Food Buffet, as either their management is not aware as what they will be offering on the day of the buffet or else they deliberately misrepresent just to attract people to Market Cafe.

Market Cafe is a great restaurant. The food there is really good. The staff can be a bit impatient sometimes, but I don't fine that to be much of a problem,as they are efficiently handling the orders or several people. The pasta and pizza there are great and the drinks and mocktails are delicious.I normally prefer to indulge in Italian there, and have the Chocolate Fondue for Dessert.Though, slightly overpriced,it never fails to impress me.The idea of swiping a card to get your meal is great for taking younger children out for dinner,as the idea of using the card to pay fascinates them beyond imagaination.I do enjoy going there with my family as everyone gets to order whatever the want with few limitations. It's a place where you can do your own thing with your own food.

The Market Cafe at Grand Hyatt, Dubai is a foodcourt cum caffeteria in a 5-star surrounding. There are Indian, Arabic, Western and Italian counters. The drinks and dessert counters are separately represented.

The novelty is that you can choose the ingredients that go into your dish and have it prepared in front of you. A swipe card is issued to bill the selection. The amount accumulated on the swipe card is payed on your way out

I thought AED110 for just 2 pieces of tandoori prawns didn't seem right. However, it was the best tasting, flavourful prawns I've had in a long time. In many other places including 5-star hotels, it is usually a tastelessly bland fare.

Had a angus steak ,tandoori prawn, mixed seafood soup, orange juice and tiramisu for dinner yesterday for a bill of around AED300 which is somewhat high for a pick-up-your -food and go to your table joint.

The concept of many cuisines under one restaurent is Lovely. The pizzas, ceasars salad and indian food cannot be missed.
And the desserts galore is fantastic with the chocolate fountain being a must try.
Market Cafe is a good combination of romantic, family, business dining place.
I go there often and highly recommend it.
