Wok In
Pan-Asian eatery sets itself aside from Asian restaurants Discuss this article
Wok In is nestled amid the lobby of the Mövenpick Deira, but the warm staff almost made up for its location. A red and black colour scheme pervades, but what tries to be sleek and debonair frankly looks rather dated – an unwelcome throwback to the ’80s. The menu is best described as short yet enticing, piquing interest with its array of spicy South-East Asian offerings. Guests can watch chefs in the open noodle kitchen, skilfully tossing and stretching fresh noodle dough as they wait for dishes such as chive and basil dumplings, packed with shiitake mushrooms and tender shrimps. Where Wok In’s strength lies, however, is its ability to marry authenticity with originality – an achievement that sets it apart from Dubai’s plethora of generic Asian restaurants.
