Jumeirah café is perfect for chintz, cake, coffee and main courses

Shakespeare’s USP seems to be the number of doilies, floral patterns and frilly lampshades it can squeeze into a single outlet. But if you’re not a fan of fleur de lit, don’t let this stop you – the main meals are surprisingly good too, including dishes such as chicken and tiger prawns with vegetables, very large rib eye steaks and lovely lentil soup served with warm crusty bread. Wash these down with one of the many beneficial smoothies (apple, carrot and orange makes up the tasty Energiser) followed by one of the cakes the café is renowned for. The only drawback is the shisha smoke – yet this is what seems to attract a lot of its loyal following. We’re sure William would have approved.
