Bert’s Café
Bert’s Café is a favourite among locals for breakfast - the best time to enjoy one of the decent coffees and pastries 1 Reviews
Located in the Greens, French-owned Bert’s Café is a favourite among locals. Décor is cosy and the menu is extensive with a focus on breakfasts, bagels, sandwiches and a number of main courses. Mains on arrival, however, are disappointing – the ratio between the grilled Atlantic salmon and its apple fennel salad is about 25:75 – and to order more salmon costs another Dhs20. Desserts can be a similar disappointment: the cheesecake tastes more like a pure ‘creamcake’. Wait staff have been known to serve bills at 10.30pm (though the restaurant closes at 11pm) and appear surprised if you want to order your sweet course after that time. Our advice? Visit Bert’s during the day, for breakfast, coffee, free Wi-Fi and the relaxed vibe – but pick somewhere else in the evening.
